DESCRIPTION

The passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator circuit consists of the center airbag sensor assembly and the passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator.

The passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator indicates the operation condition of the front passenger airbag and SRS seat cushion airbag.

DTC B1660/43 is recorded when a malfunction is detected in the passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator circuit.

  • The center airbag sensor assembly receives an open circuit signal, a short circuit to ground signal or a short circuit to B+ signal in the passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator circuit for 2 seconds.

  • Center airbag sensor assembly malfunction


  • Instrument panel wire

  • Telltale light assembly (Passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator)

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

PROCEDURE


  1. CHECK PASSENGER AIRBAG ON/OFF INDICATOR CONDITION


    1. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    2. Check the passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator operation.

  2. CHECK CONNECTION OF CONNECTORS


    1. Turn the ignition switch off.

    2. Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.

    3. Check that the connectors are properly connected to the center airbag sensor assembly and the telltale light assembly.

      OK
      The connectors are properly connected.

  3. CHECK CONNECTORS


    1. Disconnect the connectors from the center airbag sensor assembly and the telltale light assembly.

    2. Check that the connectors (on the center airbag sensor assembly side and telltale light assembly side) are not damaged.

      OK
      The connectors are not deformed or damaged.

  4. CHECK PASSENGER AIRBAG ON/OFF INDICATOR

    1. Connect the connector to the telltale light assembly.

    2. Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery, and wait for at least 2 seconds.

    3. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    4. Check the passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator operation.

      The passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator does not come on.

  5. CHECK CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY

    1. Connect the connector to the center airbag sensor assembly.

    2. Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery, and wait for at least 2 seconds.

    3. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.

    4. Clear the DTCs stored in the memory Click here.

    5. Turn the ignition switch off.

    6. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.

    7. Check for DTCs Click here.

      OK
      DTC B1660/43 is not output.

  6. CHECK INSTRUMENT PANEL WIRE (CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR - TELLTALE LIGHT)

    1. Turn the ignition switch off.

    2. Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.

    3. Disconnect the connectors from the telltale light assembly and center airbag sensor assembly.

    4. Using a service wire, connect terminals 23 (PAON) and 17 (P-AB) of connector B.

      Note

      Do not forcibly insert a service wire into the terminals of the connector when connecting the wire.

    5. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      D65-1 (PAON) - D65-2 (P-AB) Always Below 1 Ω
    6. Disconnect the service wire from connector B.

    7. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      D65-1 (PAON) - D65-2 (P-AB) Always 1 MΩ or higher
      D65-1 (PAON) - Body ground Always 1 MΩ or higher
      D65-2 (P-AB) - Body ground Always 1 MΩ or higher
    8. Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery, and wait for at least 2 seconds.

    9. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    10. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

  7. CHECK CONNECTION OF CONNECTORS


    1. Turn the ignition switch off.

    2. Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.

    3. Check that the connectors are properly connected to the center airbag sensor assembly and the telltale light assembly.

  8. CHECK CONNECTORS


    1. Disconnect the connectors from the center airbag sensor assembly and the telltale light assembly.

    2. Check that the connectors (on the center airbag sensor assembly side and telltale light assembly side) are not damaged.

    1. Turn the ignition switch off.

    10. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

    5. Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery, and wait for at least 2 seconds.

    6. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    7. Check the indicator according to the value(s) in the table below.

    1. Turn the ignition switch off.

    2. Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.

    3. Connect the connectors to the center airbag sensor assembly.

    4. Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery and wait for at least 2 seconds.

    5. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.

    8. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
