DESCRIPTION

The front passenger side seat belt buckle switch circuit consists of the center airbag sensor assembly and the front seat inner belt assembly (passenger side).

DTC B1655/37 is recorded when a malfunction is detected in the front passenger side seat belt buckle switch circuit.

  • The center airbag sensor assembly receives a line short circuit signal, an open circuit signal, a short circuit to ground signal or a short circuit to B+ signal in the front passenger side seat belt buckle switch circuit for 2 seconds.

  • Front seat inner belt assembly (passenger side) malfunction

  • Center airbag sensor assembly malfunction


  • Floor wire

  • Front seat inner belt assembly (passenger side) (front passenger side seat belt buckle switch)

  • Center airbag sensor assembly

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

PROCEDURE


  1. CHECK CONNECTION OF CONNECTORS


    1. Turn the ignition switch off.

    2. Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.

    3. Check that the connectors are properly connected to the center airbag sensor assembly and front seat inner belt assembly (passenger side).

      OK
      The connectors are properly connected.

    NG
    OK
  2. CHECK CONNECTORS


    1. Disconnect the connectors from the center airbag sensor assembly and the front seat inner belt assembly (passenger side).

    2. Check that the connectors (on the center airbag sensor assembly side and front seat inner belt assembly (passenger side) side) are not damaged.

      OK
      The connectors are not deformed or damaged.

  3. CHECK FLOOR WIRE (CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR - FRONT SEAT INNER BELT (PASSENGER SIDE))

    1. Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery, and wait for at least 2 seconds.

    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage
      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      G13-2 (RBE+) - Body ground Ignition switch ON Below 1 V
      G13-1 (RBE-) - Body ground Ignition switch ON Below 1 V
    4. Turn the ignition switch off.

    5. Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.

    6. Using a service wire, connect terminals 15 (PBE+) and 14 (PBE-) of connector B.

      Note

      Do not forcibly insert a service wire into the terminals of the connector when connecting the wire.

    7. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      G13-2 (RBE+) - G13-1 (RBE-) Always Below 1 Ω
    8. Disconnect the service wire from connector B.

    9. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      G13-2 (RBE+) - G13-1 (RBE-) Always 1 MΩ or higher
      G13-2 (RBE+) - Body ground Always 1 MΩ or higher
      G13-1 (RBE-) - Body ground Always 1 MΩ or higher

  4. CHECK FRONT SEAT INNER BELT ASSEMBLY (PASSENGER SIDE)


    1. Connect the connector to the center airbag sensor assembly and the front seat inner belt assembly (passenger side).

    2. Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery, and wait for at least 2 seconds.

    3. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.

    4. Clear the DTCs stored in the memory Click here.

    5. Turn the ignition switch off.

    6. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.

    7. Check for DTCs Click here.

      OK
      DTC B1655/37 is not output.

      Tech Tips

      DTCs other than B1655/37 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.

  5. REPLACE FRONT SEAT INNER BELT ASSEMBLY (PASSENGER SIDE)


    1. Turn the ignition switch off.

    2. Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.

    3. Replace the front seat inner belt assembly (passenger side) Click here.

      Tech Tips

      Perform inspection using parts from a normal vehicle if possible.

  6. CHECK CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY


    1. Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery, and wait for at least 2 seconds.

    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.

    3. Clear the DTCs stored in the memory Click here.

    4. Turn the ignition switch off.

    5. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.

    6. Check for DTCs Click here.

      OK
      DTC B1655/37 is not output.
