AIRBAG SYSTEM, Diagnostic DTC:B1639/81

DTC Code DTC Name
B1639/81 Driver Side Rear Sensor Initialization Incomplete

DESCRIPTION

The circuit for the driver side rear side collision sensor (to determine deployment of the rear window curtain shield airbag) is composed of the center airbag sensor assembly and driver side rear airbag sensor.

The driver side rear airbag sensor detects impacts to the vehicle and sends signals to the center airbag sensor assembly to determine if the airbag should be deployed.

DTC B1639/81 is recorded when a malfunction is detected in the circuit for the driver side rear side collision sensor (to determine deployment of the rear window curtain shield airbag).

DTC No. DTC Detection Condition Trouble Area
B1639/81

When one of following conditions is met:

  • The center airbag sensor assembly receives a line short circuit signal, an open circuit signal, a short circuit to ground signal or a short circuit to B+ signal in the circuit for the driver side rear side collision sensor (to determine deployment of the rear window curtain shield airbag) for 2 seconds.

  • Driver side - side airbag sensor (for rear side) malfunction

  • Driver side rear airbag sensor malfunction

  • Center airbag sensor assembly malfunction

  • Floor wire

  • Driver side - side airbag sensor (for rear side)

  • Driver side rear airbag sensor

  • Center airbag sensor assembly
