Use the following procedure to troubleshoot the engine immobiliser system.

  1. VEHICLE BROUGHT TO WORKSHOP

  3. INSPECT BATTERY VOLTAGE


    1. Measure the battery voltage.

      Standard voltage
      11 to 14 V

      If the voltage is below 11 V, recharge or replace the battery before proceeding to the next step.

  4. CRANK ENGINE FOR MORE THAN 10 SECONDS

  5. CHECK FOR DTC*


    1. Check for DTCs and note any codes that are output Click here.

    2. Clear the DTCs Click here.

    3. Recheck for DTCs. Try to duplicate the DTCs (ECD system or SFI system and engine immobiliser system) by simulating the symptoms indicated by the DTCs.

  6. READ VALUE USING INTELLIGENT TESTER*


    1. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    3. Turn the tester on.

    4. Enter the following menus: Body / Immobiliser / Data List.

    5. According to the display on the tester, read the Data List.

      ON: Key is in ignition key cylinder

    • If the transponder key ECU is replaced, register key and ECU - ECM communication ID.

    • When the ECM is replaced, reregister the ECU - ECM communication ID.
