STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY REASSEMBLY


  1. INSTALL UNLOCK WARNING SWITCH ASSEMBLY (except Manual Transaxle without Smart Entry and Start System)

      Engage the 2 claws to install the un-lock warning switch assembly onto the steering column bracket assembly upper.

      Tech Tips

      Slide the unlock warning switch assembly, in the direction shown by the arrow in the illustration, to install it.

    2. Connect the unlock warning switch connector to the steering column bracket assembly upper.

  2. INSTALL IGNITION SWITCH LOCK CYLINDER ASSEMBLY (w/o Smart Entry and Start System)


    1. Turn the ignition switch to ACC.

      Install the ignition switch lock cylinder assembly into the steering column bracket assembly upper.

    3. Make sure that the ignition switch lock cylinder assembly is securely fixed onto the ignition switch lock cylinder assembly.

  3. INSTALL IGNITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY (w/o Smart Entry and Start System)

    1. Install the ignition switch assembly onto the steering column bracket assembly upper with the 2 screws.

  4. INSTALL KEY INTER LOCK SOLENOID (except Manual Transaxle without Smart Entry and Start System)

    1. Connect the terminals (3) and (4) to the connector as shown in the illustration.

    2. Push in the stopper.

      Install the key interlock solenoid onto the steering column bracket assembly upper with the 2 screws.

  5. INSTALL TRANSPONDER KEY AMPLIFIER (w/o Smart Entry and Start System)

    1. Engage the 2 claws and install the transponder key amplifier onto the steering column upper with the switch bracket.

  6. INSTALL STEERING COLUMN UPPER WITH SWITCH BRACKET ASSEMBLY (w/o Smart Entry and Start System)


    1. Fix the steering column assembly in a vise between aluminum plates.

      Note

      Do not overtighten the vise.

    2. A0119C2

      Install the steering column upper with switch bracket assembly and steering column clamp upper with new steering lock set bolt, and then tighten the bolt until the head comes off.

  7. INSTALL STEERING LOCK ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY (w/ Smart Entry and Start System)


    1. Fix the steering column assembly in a vise between aluminum plates.

      Note

      Do not overtighten the vise.

    2. A011AVD

      Install the steering lock actuator and steering column clamp upper with new steering lock set bolt, and then tighten the bolt until the the head comes off.

  8. INSTALL NO. 2 STEERING INTERMEDIATE SHAFT ASSEMBLY

    1. Align the matchmarks on the No. 2 steering intermediate shaft assembly and steering and the steering column assembly.

    2. Install the bolt.

      Torque:
      35 N*m  { 360 kgf*cm, 26 ft.*lbf }
