STEERING GEAR REASSEMBLY


  1. INSTALL STEERING RACK END SUB-ASSEMBLY

    1. Using SST, install the 2 steering rack end sub-assembly.

      SST
      09922-10010
      Torque:
      without SST
      88 N*m  { 897 kgf*cm, 65 ft.*lbf }
      with SST
      61 N*m  { 622 kgf*cm, 45 ft.*lbf }

      Note


      • Use a torque wrench with a fulcrum length of 300 mm (11.81 in.).

      • This torque value is effective when SST parallel to a torque wrench.

  2. INSTALL TIE ROD SUB-ASSEMBLY LH

    *1 Matchmarks

    1. Install the lock nut and the tie rod sub-assembly LH onto the steering rack end sub-assembly until the matchmarks are aligned.

    2. Tighten the 2 lock nuts.

      Torque:
      74 N*m  { 755 kgf*cm, 55 ft.*lbf }

  3. INSTALL TIE ROD SUB-ASSEMBLY RH

    Tech Tips

    Use the same procedure for the LH side.

  4. INSTALL TIE ROD END SUB-ASSEMBLY LH

    1. Install the lock nut and the tie rod end sub-assembly LH onto the tie rod sub-assembly until the matchmarks are aligned.

      Tech Tips

      After adjusting toe-in, tighten the lock nut.

      Torque:
      74 N*m  { 755 kgf*cm, 55 ft.*lbf }

  5. INSTALL TIE ROD END SUB-ASSEMBLY RH

    Tech Tips

    Use the same procedure for the LH side.

  6. INSTALL STEERING GEAR HEAT INSULATOR (for 1ND-TV)

    1. Install the steering gear heat insulator onto the steering gear and match the guide as shown in the illustration.

    2. Install the 2 bolts.

      Torque:
      7.5 N*m  { 76 kgf*cm, 66 in.*lbf }
