STEERING GEAR DISASSEMBLY


  1. REMOVE STEERING GEAR HEAT INSULATOR (for 1ND-TV)

    1. Remove the 2 bolts and the steering gear heat insulator.

  2. REMOVE TIE ROD END SUB-ASSEMBLY LH

      Put matchmarks on the tie rod end sub-assembly LH and the tie rod sub-assembly LH.

    2. Remove the tie rod end sub-assembly LH and lock nut.

  3. REMOVE TIE ROD END SUB-ASSEMBLY RH

    Tech Tips

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  4. REMOVE TIE ROD SUB-ASSEMBLY LH

    1. Put matchmarks on the tie rod sub-assembly LH and steering gear.

    2. Remove the tie rod sub-assembly and lock nut.

  5. REMOVE TIE ROD SUB-ASSEMBLY RH

    Tech Tips

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  6. REMOVE STEERING RACK END SUB-ASSEMBLY

    1. Secure the steering gear in a vise as shown in the illustration.

      Note

      Do not overtighten the vise.

    2. Using SST, remove the 2 steering rack end sub-assembly.
