PARKING BRAKE CABLE (for Rear Drum Brake) INSTALLATION


  1. INSTALL NO. 2 PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY


    1. A0118PL

      Install the No. 2 parking brake cable assembly onto the backing plate with the bolt.

      Torque:
      8.0 N*m  { 82 kgf*cm, 71 in.*lbf }

    2. Install the No. 2 parking brake cable assembly with the 3 bolts.

      6.0 N*m  { 61 kgf*cm, 53 in.*lbf }

  2. INSTALL NO. 3 PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY


    1. A011ABS

      Install the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly onto the backing plate with the bolt.

      Torque:
      8.0 N*m  { 82 kgf*cm, 71 in.*lbf }

    2. Install the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly with the 3 bolts.

      6.0 N*m  { 61 kgf*cm, 53 in.*lbf }

  3. INSTALL REAR BRAKE SHOE KIT

      Apply high temperature grease to the surface of the backing plate that contacts the shoes as shown in the illustration.

      Using needle-nose pliers, install the parking brake cable to the rear brake parking brake shoe lever sub-assembly.

    3. A011BKAE01

      Using SST, install the rear brake shoe, pin, shoe hold down spring and shoe hold down spring cup.

      Apply a light layer of high temperature grease to the entire circumference of a adjustment bolt as shown in the illustration.

      Install the rear brake strut set to the rear brake shoe.

      Using SST, install the rear brake shoe, pin, shoe hold down spring and shoe hold down spring cup.

      Using SST, install the tension spring to the rear brake shoe.

      Using SST, install the shoe return spring to the rear brake shoe.

      Note

      Do not damage the wheel cylinder boot.

  4. INSTALL REAR BRAKE DRUM

  5. INSTALL REAR WHEELS

    Torque:
    103 N*m  { 1050 kgf*cm, 76 ft.*lbf }

  6. INSTALL NO. 1 PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY

      Connect the cable ends of the No. 2 and No. 3 parking cable assemblies to the No. 1 parking cable assembly.

  7. INSTALL PARKING BRAKE CABLE COVER


    1. A0117DL

      Insert the 2 guides.

    2. Using the 2 clips, install the parking brake cable cover.

      Engage the 2 hooks of the floor carpet and place the floor carpet in its original position.

      Install the floor carpet with the 5 clips.

  8. INSTALL PARKING BRAKE LEVER SUB-ASSEMBLY


    1. A0117L5

      Pass the No. 1 parking brake cable assembly through the parking brake lever sub-assembly.

    2. Bend the parking brake lever claw.

      Install the parking brake lever sub-assembly with the 2 bolts.

      Torque:
      15 N*m  { 148 kgf*cm, 11 ft.*lbf }
    4. A0119RB

      Tighten the 2 nuts.

      Torque:
      17 N*m  { 173 kgf*cm, 13 ft.*lbf }
    5. A0118FV

      Connect the parking brake switch connector.

      Temporarily install the adjusting nut and the lock nut to the No. 1 parking brake cable assembly.

  9. ADJUST PARKING BRAKE TRAVEL


    1. Completely release the parking brake lever.

      Loosen the lock nut and the adjusting nut to completely release the parking brake cable.

    3. Fully depress the brake pedal 3 to 5 times with the engine stopped.

    4. Turn the adjusting nut until the parking brake lever travel is corrected to within the specified range.

      Parking brake lever travel at 200 N (20 kgf, 45.0 lbf)
      Rear Brake Type Number of Clicks
      Disc 5 to 8
      Drum 6 to 9

    5. Using a wrench or an equivalent tool, hold the adjusting nut and tighten the lock nut.

      Torque:
      6.0 N*m  { 61 kgf*cm, 53 in.*lbf }

    6. Operate the parking brake lever 3 to 4 times, and check the parking brake lever travel.

    7. Check whether the parking brake drags or not.

  10. INSTALL REAR CONSOLE BOX ASSEMBLY

    1. Engage the 2 front clips.

    2. Rotate the 2 rear clips in the direction indicated by the arrows to engage them and install the console box assembly RR.

  11. INSTALL CONSOLE UPPER PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY (for Manual Transaxle)

    1. Install the shifting hole cover onto the shift lever.

    2. Engage the 8 claws and install the console upper panel.

  12. INSTALL CONSOLE UPPER PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY (for CVT)

      Engage the 8 claws and install the console upper panel.

  13. INSTALL SHIFT LEVER KNOB SUB-ASSEMBLY (for Manual Transaxle)

  14. INSTALL SIDE NO. 1 TRIM ASSEMBLY RH


    1. Engage the 6 clips and install the side No. 1 trim.

  15. INSTALL SIDE NO. 1 TRIM ASSEMBLY LH

    Tech Tips

    Use the same procedure as for the RH side.

  16. INSTALL DECK TRIM SIDE BELT HOLE COVER RH


    1. Engage the 5 claws and install the deck trim side belt hole cover.

  17. INSTALL DECK TRIM SIDE BELT HOLE COVER LH

    Tech Tips

    Use the same procedure as for the RH side.

  18. INSTALL BACK DOOR WEATHERSTRIP

  19. INSTALL REAR DECK TRIM COVER


    1. Engage the 6 claws and install the rear deck trim cover.

    2. Install the 2 clips.

  20. INSTALL FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP RH

  21. INSTALL FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP LH

  22. INSTALL FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE RH


    1. Engage the 9 claws and install the front door scuff plate.

    Use the same procedure as for the RH side.

  24. INSTALL LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT TRAY

  25. INSTALL REAR SEAT SUB FLOOR BOARD ASSEMBLY (w/o Rear Seat Assembly)


    1. Install the rear floor board with the 6 bolts.

      Torque:
      37 N*m  { 377 kgf*cm, 27 ft.*lbf }

  26. INSTALL REAR SEAT UNDER TRAY
