REAR BRAKE (for Disc Type) REMOVAL

Tech Tips


  • Use the same procedure for the LH side and RH side.

  • The following procedure listed is for the LH side.


  1. REMOVE SHIFT LEVER KNOB SUB-ASSEMBLY (for Manual Transaxle)

  2. REMOVE CONSOLE UPPER PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY (for Manual Transaxle)

    1. Disengage the 8 claws and remove the console upper panel.

    2. Separate the shifting hole cover.

  3. REMOVE CONSOLE UPPER PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY (for CVT)

    1. Disengage the 8 claws and remove the console upper panel.

  4. LOOSEN ADJUSTING NUT

      *2 Adjusting Nut

      Loosen the lock nut and adjusting nu to completely release the No. 1 parking brake cable assembly.

  5. REMOVE REAR WHEEL

  6. DRAIN BRAKE FLUID

    Note

    Immediately wash off any brake fluid that comes into contact with any painted surfaces.

  7. SEPARATE NO. 3 PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY

      Separate the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly from the rear disc brake cylinder operation lever.

      *3 Offset Wrench (14 mm)

      Insert an offset wrench (14 mm) at the base of the parking brake cable as shown in the illustration to disengage the clip. Pull out the parking brake cable from the rear disc brake cylinder assembly.

  8. SEPARATE REAR BRAKE FLEXIBLE HOSE

      Remove the union bolt and gasket and separate the flexible hose from the disc brake cylinder assembly.

  9. REMOVE REAR DISC BRAKE CYLINDER ASSEMBLY

      Hold the rear disc brake pad guide pin and remove the 2 bolts and rear disc brake cylinder assembly.

  10. REMOVE REAR DISC BRAKE PAD KIT (PAD ONLY)

      Remove the 2 disc brake pads from the rear disc brake cylinder mounting.

  11. REMOVE REAR DISC BRAKE ANTI SQUEAL SHIM KIT


    1. Remove the 2 No. 1 rear disc brake anti squeal shims and 2 No. 2 rear disc brake anti squeal shims from the brake pads.

  12. REMOVE REAR DISC BRAKE PAD SUPPORT PLATE

      *2 No. 2 Rear Disc Brake Pad Support Plate

      Remove the No. 1 rear disc brake pad support plate and No. 2 rear disc brake pad support plate to the rear disc brake cylinder mounting.

      Note

      Each pad support plate has a different shape. Be sure to put an identification mark on each pad support plate so that they can be installed to their original position.

  13. REMOVE REAR DISC BRAKE PAD GUIDE PIN

      Remove the 2 rear disc brake pad guide pins from the disc brake cylinder mounting.

  14. REMOVE REAR DISC BRAKE CYLINDER SLIDE BUSH

      *2 Vinyl Tape

      Using a screwdriver with its tip wrapped in protective tape, remove the slide bush from the slide pin.

  15. REMOVE REAR DISC BRAKE BUSHING DUST BOOT

      Remove the 2 rear disc brake bushing dust boots from the rear disc brake cylinder mounting.

  16. REMOVE REAR DISC BRAKE CYLINDER MOUNTING

      Remove the 2 bolts and the rear disc brake cylinder mounting from the axle beam.

  17. REMOVE REAR DISC

      Place matchmarks on the disc and axle hub and remove the disc.
