BRAKE PEDAL INSTALLATION


  1. INSTALL BRAKE PEDAL SUPPORT SUB-ASSEMBLY (for LHD)


    1. A0118HT

      Install the brake pedal support sub-assembly with the 4 nuts.

      Torque:
      13 N*m  { 130 kgf*cm, 9 ft.*lbf }
    2. A011BEK

      Engage the 3 clamps to the brake pedal support sub-assembly.

    3. Connect the connector to the stop light switch assembly.

  2. INSTALL BRAKE PEDAL SUPPORT SUB-ASSEMBLY (for RHD)


    1. A0118HT

      Install the brake pedal support sub-assembly with the 4 nuts.

      Torque:
      13 N*m  { 130 kgf*cm, 9 ft.*lbf }
    2. A011AQG

      Engage the clamp to the brake pedal support sub-assembly.

    3. Connect the connector to the stop light switch assembly.

  3. INSTALL PUSH ROD PIN


    1. A0118YY

      Apply lithium soap base glycol grease to the inner surface of the hole on the brake pedal lever.

    2. Connect the brake master cylinder push rod clevis to the brake pedal support sub-assembly with the push rod pin and a new clip.

  4. INSPECT AND ADJUST BRAKE PEDAL HEIGHT

      Inspect the brake pedal height.

      Standard Pedal Height from Dash Panel
      Transaxle Type LHD RHD
      Manual Transaxle 135.2 to 145.2 mm (5.32 to 5.72 in.) 131.7 to 141.7 mm (5.19 to 5.58 in.)
      CVT 135.2 to 145.2 mm (5.32 to 5.72 in.) 132.7 to 142.7 mm (5.22 to 5.62 in.)

    2. Adjust the brake pedal height.


      1. Disconnect the stop light switch connector.

      2. Remove the stop light switch assembly.

      3. Loosen the push rod lock nut.

      4. Adjust the brake pedal height by turning the push rod.

      5. Tighten the push rod lock nut.

        Torque:
        26 N*m  { 265 kgf*cm, 19 ft.*lbf }

        *3 Brake Pedal

        Insert the stop light switch into the adjuster until it just touches the brake pedal.

        Note

        Do not depress the brake pedal.

        Make a quarter turn clockwise to install the stop light switch assembly.

      8. Check the stop light switch clearance.

        Stop light switch clearance
        0.5 to 2.6 mm (0.0197 to 0.102 in.)

      9. Connect the stop light switch connector.

  5. INSPECT BRAKE PEDAL FREE PLAY

      *1 Pedal Free Play

      Push in the pedal until the beginning of the resistance is felt. Measure the pedal free play.

      Standard Pedal Free Play
      1 to 6 mm (0.0394 to 0.236 in.)

  6. INSPECT BRAKE PEDAL RESERVE DISTANCE

    Tech Tips

    Measure the distance at the same point used for the brake pedal height inspection.


    1. Release the parking brake lever.

      With the engine running, depress the pedal and measure the pedal reserve distance.

      Standard Pedal Reserve Distance from Dash Panel at 300 N (31 kgf, 67.4 lbf)
      Rear Brake Type Pedal Reserve Distance
      Disc More than 83 mm (3.27 in.)
      Drum More than 88 mm (3.46 in.)
