VEHICLE STABILITY CONTROL SYSTEM ABS Warning Light Remains ON

DESCRIPTION

The skid control ECU is connected to the combination meter via CAN communication.

If any of the following is detected, the ABS warning light remains on:

In some cases, the intelligent tester cannot be used when the skid control ECU is abnormal.

  • When replacing the brake actuator assembly, perform zero point calibration Click here.

  • Inspect the fuses for circuits related to this system before performing the following inspection procedure.

PROCEDURE


  1. CHECK CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM


    1. Check if CAN communication system DTCs are output Click here.

  2. CHECK IF SKID CONTROL ECU CONNECTOR IS SECURELY CONNECTED


    1. Check if the skid control ECU connector is securely connected.

      OK
      The connector is securely connected.

    NG
    OK
  3. INSPECT BATTERY


    1. Check the battery voltage.

      Standard voltage
      11 to 14 V

    NG
    OK
  4. INSPECT SKID CONTROL ECU (IG1 TERMINAL)


    1. Disconnect the A16 or A17 skid control ECU connector.

    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

      Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

  5. INSPECT SKID CONTROL ECU (GND TERMINAL)


    1. Turn the ignition switch off.

      Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      for LHD
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A16-1 (GND1) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      for RHD
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A17-1 (GND1) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

  6. INSPECT COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY


    1. Reconnect the skid control ECU connector.

    2. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

    3. Perform Active Test of the combination meter using the intelligent tester Click here.

      OK
      The ABS warning light turns ON or OFF in accordance with the intelligent tester.

    OK
  7. REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY


    1. Turn the ignition switch off.

    2. Replace the combination meter Click here.

  8. INSPECT COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY


    1. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

    2. Perform Active Test of the combination meter using the intelligent tester Click here.

      The ABS warning light turns ON or OFF in accordance with the intelligent tester.
