REAR WHEEL ALIGNMENT INSPECTION

Note

For vehicles equipped with VSC, if wheel alignment has been adjusted, and if suspension or underbody components have been removed/installed or replaced, be sure to perform the following initialization procedure in order for the system to function normally:

  1. Perform zero point calibration of the yaw rate and acceleration sensor and test mode inspection Click here.

  1. INSPECT TIRES

    1. Check the tires for wear and proper inflation pressure.

      230 kPa (2.3 kgf/cm2, 33 psi)

      220 kPa (2.2 kgf/cm2, 32 psi)

      Driving over 160 km/h (100 mph)

      240 kPa (2.4 kgf/cm2, 35 psi)

      230 kPa (2.3 kgf/cm2, 33 psi)

Using a dial indicator, check the runout of the tires.

      Tire runout
1.4 mm (0.0551 in.) or less (Vertical)
2.0 mm (0.0787 in.) or less (Lateral)

    C

    D
Ground clearance of axle beam set bolt center

    Note

    • Before inspecting the wheel alignment, check the vehicle height.

    • Perform the inspection while the vehicle is empty (with the tire puncture repair kit in the vehicle and the tools removed from the vehicle).

    Tech Tips

Bounce the vehicle up and down at the corners to stabilize the suspension before inspecting the vehicle height.

  3. INSPECT CAMBER

    1. Install the camber-caster-kingpin gauge and position the rear wheel on the alignment tester.

    2. Inspect the camber.

      Camber (Unloaded Vehicle)
      Camber Right - Left Error

      -0°52' +/- 30'

      (-0.87°+/- 0.5°)

      0°30'

      (0.5°)

      Note

      • Perform the inspection while the vehicle is empty (with the tire puncture repair kit in the vehicle and the tools removed from the vehicle).

      • The tolerance for the difference between the left and right wheels is 30' (0.5°) or less for both cambers.

If the camber is not within the specified range, inspect the suspension parts and replace them if necessary.

  4. INSPECT TOE-IN

    (0.122 +/- 0.118 in.)

If the toe-in is not within the specified range, inspect the suspension parts and replace them if necessary.
