FRONT DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY (for 1KR-FE) DISASSEMBLY


  1. REMOVE FRONT NO. 2 AXLE INBOARD JOINT BOOT CLAMP LH

    1. Using needle-nose pliers, disengage the 2 claws and remove the boot clamp.

  2. REMOVE FRONT NO. 2 AXLE INBOARD JOINT BOOT CLAMP RH

    Tech Tips

    Use the same procedure for the RH side as for the LH side.

  3. REMOVE FRONT AXLE INBOARD JOINT BOOT CLAMP LH

    1. Using needle-nose pliers, disengage the 2 claws and remove the boot clamp.

    Use the same procedure for the RH side as for the LH side.

  5. SEPARATE FRONT AXLE INBOARD JOINT BOOT LH


    1. Separate the inboard joint boot from the inboard joint.

  6. SEPARATE FRONT AXLE INBOARD JOINT BOOT RH

    Use the same procedure for the RH side as for the LH side.

  7. REMOVE FRONT DRIVE INBOARD JOINT ASSEMBLY LH


    1. Remove the old grease from the inboard joint.

      *1 Matchmarks

      Place matchmarks on the inboard joint and outboard joint shaft.

      Note

      Do not cause any damage when placing the marks.

    3. Remove the inboard joint from the outboard joint shaft.

    4. Fix the outboard joint shaft in a vise between aluminum plates.

      Note

      Do not overtighten the vise.

      Using a snap ring expander, remove the snap ring.

      Place matchmarks on the tripod joint and outboard joint shaft.

      Note

      Do not cause any damage when placing the marks.

    7. Using a brass bar and hammer, remove the tripod joint.

      Note

      Do not tap the rollers.

    8. Remove the inboard joint boot No. 2 clamp, the inboard joint boot and the inboard joint boot clamp.

  9. REMOVE FRONT NO. 2 AXLE OUTBOARD JOINT BOOT CLAMP LH

    1. Using a screwdriver, release the staked part of the boot clamp and remove the boot clamp.

  10. REMOVE FRONT NO. 2 AXLE OUTBOARD JOINT BOOT CLAMP RH

    Use the same procedure for the RH side as for the LH side.

  11. REMOVE FRONT AXLE OUTBOARD JOINT BOOT CLAMP LH

      Using pliers, remove the boot clamp, as shown in the illustration.

    1. Remove the outboard joint boot from the outboard joint shaft.

    2. Remove the old grease from the outboard joint.

  15. REMOVE FRONT DRIVE SHAFT HOLE SNAP RING LH

    1. Using a screwdriver, remove the snap ring.

  16. REMOVE FRONT DRIVE SHAFT DUST COVER LH

    1. Using SST and a press, remove the dust cover.

      Note

      Do not drop the inboard joint.

  17. REMOVE FRONT DRIVE SHAFT DUST COVER RH

    Use the same procedure for the RH side as for the LH side.

  18. REMOVE FRONT DRIVE SHAFT DUST COVER (for RH Side)

    1. Using SST and a press, remove the dust cover.

      Note

      Do not drop the inboard joint.

  19. REMOVE FRONT DRIVE SHAFT HOLE SNAP RING RH (for RH Side)


    1. A011BCO

      Using a snap ring expander, remove the snap ring.

  20. REMOVE FRONT DRIVE SHAFT BEARING (for RH Side)

      Using SST and a press, press out the drive shaft bearing.

      Note

      Be careful not to drop the inboard joint assembly.

    2. Remove the front drive shaft bearing bracket hole snap ring from the inboard joint.
