DIFFERENTIAL OIL SEAL REPLACEMENT


  1. DRAIN MANUAL TRANSAXLE OIL

    1. Stop the vehicle in a level place.

    2. Remove the manual transmission filler plug and the gasket.

    3. Remove the manual transmission drain plug and gasket, and then drain the manual transaxle oil.

  3. REMOVE DRIVE SHAFT HEAT INSULATOR BRACKET

      Remove the 2 bolts and the drive shaft heat insulator bracket.

  4. REMOVE TRANSMISSION CASE OIL SEAL

      Using SST, remove the transmission case oil seal.

  5. REMOVE TRANSAXLE CASE OIL SEAL

      Using SST, remove the transaxle case oil seal.

  6. INSTALL TRANSMISSION CASE OIL SEAL


    1. Coat the lip of a new oil seal with MP grease.

      Using SST and a hammer, install the transmission case oil seal.

      SST
      09350-32014   ( 09351-32150, 09951-07100 )
      Installation depth
      10.6 to 11.6 mm (0.418 to 0.456 in.)

      Note

      Do not damage the oil seal lip.

  7. INSTALL TRANSAXLE CASE OIL SEAL


    1. Coat the lip of a new oil seal with MP grease.

      Using SST and a hammer, install the transaxle case oil seal.

      Installation depth
      1.2 to 2.2 mm (0.0473 to 0.0866 in.)

      Note

      Do not damage the oil seal lip.

  8. INSTALL DRIVE SHAFT HEAT INSULATOR BRACKET


    1. Install the drive shaft heat insulator bracket with 2 bolts.

      Torque:
      16 N*m  { 166 kgf*cm, 12 ft.*lbf }

  9. INSTALL FRONT DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLIES

  10. ADD MANUAL TRANSAXLE OIL


    1. Install a new gasket and the manual transmission drain plug.

      Torque:
      45 N*m  { 459 kgf*cm, 33 ft.*lbf }

      *1 0 to 5 mm (0 to 0.20 in.)

      Add manual transaxle oil.

  11. INSPECT MANUAL TRANSAXLE OIL

      *1 0 to 5 mm (0 to 0.20 in.)

      Check that the oil surface is within 5 mm (0.20 in.) of the bottom of the manual transmission filler plug opening.

      Note

      Excessively large or small amounts of oil may cause problems.

    2. Check for oil leakage when the oil level is low.

    3. Install the manual transmission filler plug and a new gasket.

      Torque:
      39 N*m  { 400 kgf*cm, 29 ft.*lbf }

  12. INSPECT FOR OIL LEAK
