STOP AND START SYSTEM Engine Oil Pressure Switch Circuit

DESCRIPTION

The engine stop and start ECU prevents the engine oil pressure warning light from illuminating while the engine is stopped due to Stop and Start system control (OIL terminal).

(When the Stop and Start system control is not activated, the engine oil pressure warning light turns on while the engine is stopped.)

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

PROCEDURE


  1. READ VALUE USING INTELLIGENT TESTER (OIL PRESSURE SWITCH)


    1. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    3. Turn the tester on.

    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Stop and Start / Data List / Oil Pressure Switch.

    5. Start the engine using the ignition switch, and then read the Oil Pressure Switch value when the engine is idling and when the engine is stopped.

      OK
      ON is displayed when the engine is stopped.
      OFF is displayed when the engine is idling.

      Tech Tips

      While the engine is stopped due to Stop and Start system control, the oil pressure warning light is off.

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ENGINE STOP AND START ECU - ENGINE OIL PRESSURE SWITCH)


    1. Disconnect the engine oil pressure switch connector and the engine stop and start ECU connector.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D79-22 (MOPS) - B31-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      D79-22 (MOPS) or B31-1 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    3. Reconnect the engine oil pressure switch connector and the engine stop and start ECU connector.

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

    OK

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ENGINE STOP AND START ECU - COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY)


    1. Disconnect the engine stop and start ECU connector and the combination meter assembly connector.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D78-26 (OIL) - D2-13 (S) Always Below 1 Ω
      D78-26 (OIL) or D2-13 (S) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    3. Reconnect the engine stop and start ECU connector and the combination meter assembly connector.
