SFI SYSTEM Fuel Injector Circuit

DESCRIPTION

The fuel injectors are located on the intake manifold. They inject fuel into the cylinders based on the signals from the ECM.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

Note

Inspect the fuses for circuits related to this system before performing the following inspection procedure.

PROCEDURE


  1. INSPECT POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT

      (to Fuel Injector)

      Disconnect the fuel injector connector.

    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage
      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      C1-1 - Body ground Ignition switch ON 11 to 14 V
      C2-1 - Body ground Ignition switch ON 11 to 14 V
      C3-1 - Body ground Ignition switch ON 11 to 14 V
      C8-1 - Body ground Ignition switch ON 11 to 14 V
    4. Reconnect the fuel injector connector.

  2. INSPECT FUEL INJECTOR (INJECTION AND VOLUME)


    1. Check the fuel injector injection and volume Click here.

    OK
  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (FUEL INJECTOR - ECM)


    1. Disconnect the ECM connector.

    2. Disconnect the fuel injector connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance (Check for Open)
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      C1-2 - B8-86 (#10) Always Below 1 Ω
      C2-2 - B8-85 (#20) Always Below 1 Ω
      C3-2 - B8-84 (#30) Always Below 1 Ω
      C8-2 - B8-83 (#40) Always Below 1 Ω
      Standard Resistance (Check for Short)
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      C1-2 or B8-86 (#10) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      C2-2 or B8-85 (#20) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      C3-2 or B8-84 (#30) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      C8-2 or B8-83 (#40) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
    4. Reconnect the fuel injector connector.

    5. Reconnect the ECM connector.

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (INTEGRATION RELAY - FUEL INJECTOR)


    1. Disconnect the fuel injector assembly connector.

    2. Remove the integration relay.

    3. Disconnect the integration relay connector.

    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance (Check for Open)
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      C1-1 - 1E-4 Always Below 1 Ω
      C2-1 - 1E-4 Always Below 1 Ω
      C3-1 - 1E-4 Always Below 1 Ω
      C8-1 - 1E-4 Always Below 1 Ω
      Standard Resistance (Check for Short)
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      C1-1 or 1E-4 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      C2-1 or 1E-4 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      C3-1 or 1E-4 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      C8-1 or 1E-4 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
    5. Reconnect the fuel injector assembly connector.

    6. Reinstall the integration relay.
