| DTC Code | DTC Name |
|---|---|
| P2228 | Barometric Pressure Circuit Low Input |
| P2229 | Barometric Pressure Circuit High Input |
DESCRIPTION
To detect atmospheric pressure, the built-in atmospheric pressure sensor in the ECM is used for the common rail system. According to changes in the atmospheric pressure, the ECM corrects the fuel injection volume and timing, and adjusts the common rail internal fuel pressure in order to optimize engine combustion.
| DTC Detection Drive Pattern | DTC Detection Condition | Trouble Area |

Tech Tips
When the ignition switch is ON, the intake air pipe pressure is approximately equal to atmospheric pressure.
Standard atmospheric pressure is 101 kPa. For every 100 m increase in altitude, pressure drops by 1 kPa. Varies by weather.
INSPECTION PROCEDURE
Note
When replacing the ECM, the ECM needs Registration and Initialization Click here.
Tech Tips
When the DTC P2228 or P2229 is stored, check the difference between MAP and Atmosphere Pressure values by entering the following menus using the intelligent tester: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Data List / MAP and Atmosphere Pressure.
The difference should be within +/-7 kPa in the normal condition.
When the ECM must be replaced, before replacing the ECM, perform the "Learning Values Save" function using the intelligent tester. Then after installing the new ECM, perform all of the initializations/registrations for the "Learning Values Write" function by following the instructions shown on the tester display.
PROCEDURE
