ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR INSPECTION


  1. INSPECT ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR

    1. Check the resistance.


      1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

        Standard Resistance
        Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
        1 - 2 About 20°C (68°F) 2.32 to 2.59 kΩ
        1 - 2 About 80°C (176°F) 0.310 to 0.326 kΩ

        If the result is not as specified, replace the engine coolant temperature sensor.

        Note

        When checking the engine coolant temperature sensor in water, be careful not to allow water to enter the terminals. After checking, wipe the sensor dry. If the result is not as specified, replace the engine coolant temperature sensor.
