SFI SYSTEM Fuel Injector Circuit

DESCRIPTION

The fuel injectors are located on the intake manifold. They inject fuel into the cylinders based on the signals from the ECM.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

PROCEDURE

1. INSPECT POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT

      *1	Front view of wire harness connector: (to Fuel Injector Assembly)

      Disconnect the fuel injector assembly connector.

   2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

   3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage
      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition C1-1 - Body ground Ignition switch ON 11 to 14 V C2-1 - Body ground Ignition switch ON 11 to 14 V C3-1 - Body ground Ignition switch ON 11 to 14 V

   4. Reconnect the fuel injector assembly connector.

   
   

   NG

   INSPECT INTEGRATION NO.1 RELAY (IG2 RELAY) Click here

   OK

2. INSPECT FUEL INJECTOR ASSEMBLY (INJECTION AND VOLUME)

   
   

   1. Check the fuel injector injection and volume Click here.

   
   

   NG

   REPLACE FUEL INJECTOR ASSEMBLY Click here

   OK

3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (FUEL INJECTOR ASSEMBLY - ECM)

      Disconnect the fuel injector assembly connector.

   2. Disconnect the ECM connector.

   3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance (Check for Open)
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition C1-2 - B8-86 (#10) Always Below 1 Ω C2-2 - B8-85 (#20) Always Below 1 Ω C3-2 - B8-84 (#30) Always Below 1 Ω

      Standard Resistance (Check for Short)
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition C1-2 or B8-86 (#10) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher C2-2 or B8-85 (#20) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher C3-2 or B8-84 (#30) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

   4. Reconnect the fuel injector assembly connector.

   5. Reconnect the ECM connector.

   
   

   NG

   REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

   OK

   REPLACE FUEL INJECTOR ASSEMBLY Click here

4. INSPECT INTEGRATION NO.1 RELAY (IG2 RELAY)

      *1	Component without harness connected: (Integration Relay)

      Remove the integration relay (IG2 relay) from the engine room relay block.

   2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition 1A-1 - 1E-4 When battery voltage absent 10 kΩ or higher 1A-1 - 1E-4 When battery voltage applied to terminals 1D-11 and 1C-3 Below 1 Ω

   3. Reinstall the integration relay.
