FRONT DOOR DISASSEMBLY

Tech Tips


  • Use the same procedure for both the RH and LH sides.

  • The procedure described below is for the RH side.


  1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

    CAUTION:

    Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

  2. REMOVE FRONT DOOR LOWER FRAME BRACKET GARNISH

      Disengage the clip and 2 guides and remove the front door lower frame bracket garnish.

  3. REMOVE FRONT ARMREST BASE UPPER PANEL (w/o Screw)

      *1 Moulding Remover

      Using a moulding remover, disengage the 6 claws and remove the front armrest base upper panel.

    2. Disconnect the connector.

  4. REMOVE FRONT ARMREST BASE UPPER PANEL (w/ Screw)

      *1 Protective Tape

      Using a screwdriver with its tip wrapped in protective tape, disengage the claw and open the door armrest cap.

      Remove the screw.

      Using a moulding remover, disengage the 6 claws and remove the front armrest base upper panel.

    4. Disconnect the connector.

      Disengage the claw and remove the door armrest cap.

  5. REMOVE FRONT DOOR INSIDE HANDLE BEZEL

      Using a moulding remover, disengage the 4 claws and remove the front door inside handle bezel.

  6. REMOVE DOOR ASSIST GRIP COVER

      Using a moulding remover, disengage the 6 claws and remove the door assist grip cover.

  7. REMOVE DOOR SPEAKER GRILLE BASE

      Disengage the 4 claws and remove the door speaker grille base.

  8. REMOVE FRONT DOOR TRIM BOARD SUB-ASSEMBLY


    1. A011AF2

      Disconnect the connector.

    2. Remove the 3 screws.

      Disengage the 10 clips and 6 claws.

      Disconnect the front door lock remote control cable and front door inside locking cable and remove the front door trim board.

  9. REMOVE FRONT DOOR INSIDE HANDLE SUB-ASSEMBLY

      Disengage the 2 claws and remove the front door inside handle.

  10. REMOVE FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY

    1. Disengage the 3 claws and remove the front No. 2 speaker.

  11. REMOVE FRONT DOOR GLASS INNER WEATHERSTRIP

      Remove the front door glass inner weatherstrip.

  12. REMOVE FRONT NO. 1 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY

    1. Disconnect the speaker connector.

    2. A011AI8

      Drill out the 3 rivet heads using a drill with a bit diameter of less than 4 mm (0.16 in.), and remove the No. 1 speaker.

    3. Move the drill around the rivet head circumference to cut the flange.

      CAUTION:

      Be careful. The cut rivet is very hot.

      Note

      Do not drill the rivet at an angle as this will cause damage to the drill and drill hole. Line up the drill and rivet, and carefully drill the rivet head straight out.

    4. After drilling out the flange, continue drilling to push out the shards on the drill.

    5. Using a vacuum cleaner, remove the rivet fragments and shavings from the inside of the door.

  13. REMOVE OUTER REAR VIEW MIRROR ASSEMBLY

  14. REMOVE FRONT DOOR WINDOW FRAME REAR MOULDING

  15. REMOVE FRONT DOOR GLASS OUTER WEATHERSTRIP ASSEMBLY

    Tech Tips

    Use the same procedure as for the LH side Click here.

  16. REMOVE SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR

    CAUTION:

    Confirm that the negative battery terminal is disconnected before performing the operation. Even an impact to only the airbag sensor will cause the airbag to deploy.

      Slide the outer housing and detach the airbag connector.

      Remove the bolt, disengage the hook and remove the side airbag sensor.

  17. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SERVICE HOLE COVER

      Remove the bolt and remove the ground wire.

    2. Disconnect the connector.

    3. Disengage the clamps, and then remove the front door service hole cover.

      Note

      Remove any tape remaining on the door side.

  18. REMOVE FRONT DOOR GLASS SUB-ASSEMBLY


    1. Provisionally install the power window switch.

    2. A011BDT

      Move the front door glass until the 2 bolts can be seen through the service holes.

    3. Remove the 2 bolts.

      Note

      Do not drop or damage the front door glass when removing the bolts.

    4. A0119BB

      Remove the front door glass in the direction indicated by the arrows in the illustration.

      Note

      Do not damage the front door glass sub-assembly.

    5. Remove the power window switch.

  19. REMOVE FRONT DOOR GLASS RUN

      Remove the front door glass run.

  20. REMOVE FRONT DOOR WINDOW REGULATOR SUB-ASSEMBLY


    1. A0117ERE01

      Disconnect the connector.

    2. Remove the regulator wire from the holder.

    3. Disengage the clamp (A).

    4. Remove the 3 bolts.

    5. Remove the 3 nuts (B) and disengage the clamps.

    6. Remove the nut (C), disengage the clamp, and remove the front door window regulator.

      Note


      • Do not disassemble the front door window regulator motor.

      • To prevent the front door window regulator from dropping, support the front door window regulator by hand when removing the nut (C) and disengaging the clamp.

      Tech Tips

      Remove the front door window regulator through the service hole.

  21. REMOVE FRONT DOOR STIFFENER CUSHION

      *1 Double-sided Tape

      Remove the 2 bolts and peel off the double-sided tape, and remove the front door stiffener cushion.

  22. REMOVE FRONT DOOR CHECK ASSEMBLY

      Remove the 3 bolts and remove the front door check.

      Note

      Do not drop or damage the front door check when removing the bolts.

      Tech Tips

      Remove the front door check through the service hole.

  23. REMOVE FRONT DOOR FRAME REAR LOWER SUB-ASSEMBLY

      Remove the bolt and remove the front door frame rear lower sub-assembly.

      Note

      Do not drop or damage the front door frame rear lower sub-assembly when removing the bolt.

      Tech Tips

      Remove the front door frame rear lower sub-assembly through the service hole.

  24. REMOVE FRONT DOOR OUTSIDE HANDLE COVER (for Driver Side)

      Remove the hole plug.

    2. Using "TORX" socket wrench T30, loosen the screw and remove the cover.

    3. A011BSC

      Disengage the 2 claws and remove the lock cylinder.

  25. REMOVE FRONT DOOR OUTSIDE HANDLE COVER (for Front Passenger Side)

      Remove the hole plug.

    2. Using "TORX" socket wrench T30, loosen the screw and remove the cover.

  26. REMOVE FRONT DOOR LOCK ASSEMBLY

      Using "TORX" socket wrench T30, loosen the 3 screws.

    2. Move the front door lock downward, remove the outside handle frame link, and remove the front door lock.

    3. Remove the door lock wire harness seal from the front door lock.

      Tech Tips

      Remove the front door lock through the service hole.

  27. REMOVE FRONT DOOR OUTSIDE HANDLE ASSEMBLY (w/o Entry and Start System)

      Pull up the door handle holder as shown by the arrow.

    2. A0117ON

      Pull the front door outside handle toward the back of the vehicle, disengage the front door outside handle frame RH, and remove the handle from the front door outside handle frame.

  28. REMOVE FRONT DOOR OUTSIDE HANDLE ASSEMBLY (w/ Entry and Start System)

      Disengage the clamp.

    2. Disengage the connector cover at 4 locations using a screwdriver and separate the connector.

      Pull up the door handle holder as shown by the arrow.

      Pull the front door outside handle toward the back of the vehicle, disengage the front door outside handle frame, and remove the handle from the front door outside handle frame.

  29. REMOVE FRONT DOOR OUTSIDE HANDLE FRONT PAD

      Disengage the 3 claws and remove the front door outside handle front pad.

  30. REMOVE FRONT DOOR OUTSIDE HANDLE REAR PAD

      Disengage the 2 claws and remove the front door outside handle rear pad.

  31. REMOVE FRONT DOOR OUTSIDE HANDLE FRAME SUB-ASSEMBLY (w/o Entry and Start System)

      Using "TORX" socket wrench T30, loosen the screw.

    2. Slide the front outside handle frame to remove it.

  32. REMOVE FRONT DOOR OUTSIDE HANDLE FRAME SUB-ASSEMBLY (w/ Entry and Start System)

      Disengage the 4 clamps.

    2. Disconnect the connector.

    3. A011717

      Using "TORX" socket wrench T30, loosen the screw.

    4. Slide the front outside handle frame to remove it.

  33. REMOVE ELECTRICAL KEY WIRE HARNESS (w/ Entry and Start System)

      Disengage the clamp and remove the electrical key wire harness from the front outside handle frame.

  34. REMOVE FRONT DOOR WEATHERSTRIP


    1. A011BAN

      Disengage the 25 clips and remove the front door weatherstrip.

  35. REMOVE CUSHION

      Remove the 2 cushions from the door panel.
