POWER WINDOW CONTROL SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK


  1. CHECK WINDOW LOCK SWITCH

    Tech Tips

    Before performing the window lock switch operation check, make sure that the window lock switch is off (the switch is not pushed in).


    1. Check that the passenger side power window cannot be operated when the window lock switch of the power window regulator master switch is pressed.

      Tech Tips

      Even when the window lock switch of the power window regulator master switch is pressed in, remote manual up and down and auto up and down functions can be operated.

    2. Check that the passenger side power window can be operated when the window lock switch is pressed again.

    3. CHECK MANUAL UP/DOWN FUNCTION


      1. Check that the driver side power window operates as follows:

  2. Check that the passenger side power window operates as follows:

  • CHECK AUTO UP/DOWN FUNCTION


    1. Check that the driver side power window operates as follows:

      OK

      Driver side Ignition switch ON Pulled up (One touch operation) AUTO UP (Closes)
      Pushed down (One touch operation) AUTO DOWN (Opens)
    2. Check that the passenger side power window operates as follows:

      OK

      Passenger side
      • Ignition switch ON

      • Window lock switch off

      Pulled up (One touch operation) AUTO UP (Closes)
      Pushed down (One touch operation) AUTO DOWN (Opens)
  • CHECK REMOTE MANUAL UP/DOWN FUNCTION


    1. Check that the passenger side power window operates as follows:

      OK

      • Ignition switch ON

      • Window lock switch off

      Pulled halfway up UP (Closes)
      Pushed halfway down DOWN (Opens)
  • CHECK REMOTE AUTO UP/DOWN FUNCTION


    1. Check that the passenger side power window operate as follows:

      OK

      Pushed down (One touch operation) AUTO DOWN (Opens)
  • CHECK POWER WINDOW OPERATION FUNCTION AFTER IGNITION SWITCH OFF


    1. Check that all the power windows can be operated with the power window regulator master switch assembly after the ignition switch is turned off.

    2. After turning the ignition switch off, check if the power window regulator switch can operate the passenger side power window.

    3. Check that the key-off operation function does not operate after the driver door is opened and closed.

    4. Check that all the power windows cannot be operated after more than approximately 45 seconds have elapsed since the ignition switch is turned off.

  • CHECK JAM PROTECTION FUNCTION


    1. Check the basic function.

      CAUTION:

      Do not put your fingers between the door frame and door glass to check functions. Also, prevent any part of your body from being caught during inspection.

      Tech Tips

      The jam protection function is operative during both AUTO UP and MANUAL UP operation while the engine is running or the ignition switch is ON, and also approximately 45 seconds after the ignition switch is turned off.


      1. Fully open the window.

      2. Set a thick book wrapped with a piece of cloth near the power window fully closed position.

      3. Operate the AUTO UP or MANUAL UP function to check that the power window goes down immediately after the book is caught between the window and door frame, and stops when the opening reaches approximately 200 mm (7.87 in.).

        Tech Tips

        The power window moves down approximately 125 mm (4.93 in.). However, when the opening does not reach 200 mm (7.87 in.), the power window continues to go down until the opening reaches 200 mm (7.87 in.) or until approximately 5 seconds have elapsed.

      4. While the power window is moving down, check that the door glass cannot be moved up even when the power window regulator switch is used.

    1. Check the LED illumination.


      1. Check that the LED located on the power window regulator master switch assembly illuminates when the ignition switch is turned ON.

    1. Check that the LED located on the power window regulator switch illuminates when the ignition switch is ON and the window lock switch is set to the UNLOCK position.
