REAR DOOR REMOVAL

Tech Tips


  • Use the same procedure for the RH and LH sides.

  • The procedure listed below is for the LH side.


  1. PRECAUTION

    Note

    After turning the ignition switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal notice before proceeding with work Click here.

  2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

    Note

    When disconnecting the cable some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Click here.

  3. REMOVE REAR DOOR WINDOW REGULATOR HANDLE ASSEMBLY (w/o Power Window)

      Insert clip remover between the plate and trim board.

    2. Turn the handle counterclockwise to remove the snap ring and handle.

  4. REMOVE REAR DOOR REGULATOR INSIDE HANDLE PLATE (w/o Power Window)


    1. Remove the inside handle plate.

  5. REMOVE REAR DOOR NO. 1 STIFFENER CUSHION

      Remove the stiffener cushion.

  6. REMOVE REAR DOOR INSIDE HANDLE BEZEL PLUG LH


    1. A00OS4V

      Using moulding remover A, detach the 3 claws and remove the bezel plug.

  7. REMOVE DOOR ASSIST GRIP COVER LH


    1. A00OUKL

      Using moulding remover A, detach the 10 claws and remove the assist grip cover.

  8. REMOVE REAR POWER WINDOW REGULATOR SWITCH ASSEMBLY WITH REAR DOOR ARMREST BASE PANEL (w/ Power Window)


    1. A00OTAX

      Using moulding remover A, detach the 6 claws and the clip.

    2. Disconnect the connector and remove the rear power window regulator switch assembly with rear door armrest base panel.

  9. REMOVE REAR DOOR TRIM BOARD SUB-ASSEMBLY LH


    1. A00OV40

      Remove the 3 screws.

    2. Using a clip remover, detach the 8 clips.

      *2 w/o Rear Door Sunshade

      Pull out the rear door trim board in the direction indicated by the arrow.

    4. for 11 Speakers:


      1. Disconnect the connector.

      Disconnect the 2 cables from the inside handle.

  10. REMOVE REAR CURTAIN SUB-ASSEMBLY LH (w/ Rear Door Sunshade)


    1. A00OSVX

      Remove the 6 screws, detach the 2 claws and remove the curtain.

    2. Remove the clip from the rear curtain sub-assembly.

  11. REMOVE REAR NO. 2 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY (for 11 Speakers)

      Detach the clamp.

    2. Remove the 2 screws and speaker.

      Note

      Do not touch the cone part of the speaker.

  12. REMOVE REAR DOOR SPEAKER GRILLE SUB-ASSEMBLY (for 11 Speakers)

      Detach the 3 claws and remove the rear door speaker grille sub-assembly.

  13. REMOVE REAR NO. 1 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY


    1. Disconnect the speaker connector.

    2. A00OT1D

      Using a drill bit with a diameter of less than 4 mm (0.157 in.), drill out the 3 rivet heads.

      CAUTION:

      Be careful as the cut rivet will be very hot.

      Note

      Do not drill the rivet at an angle as this will cause damage to the drill and drill hole. Line up the drill and rivet, and carefully drill out the rivet head.

    3. Continue drilling and push out the remaining rivet fragments.

    4. Using a vacuum cleaner, remove the rivet fragments and shavings from the inside of the door.

      Note

      Do not touch the cone part of the speaker.

    5. Detach the claw and remove the speaker.

  14. REMOVE REAR DOOR INNER GLASS WEATHERSTRIP LH

      Remove the inner glass weatherstrip by pulling it upward in the direction indicated by the arrow in the illustration.

  15. REMOVE REAR DOOR FRAME GARNISH LH

      Detach the 2 clips.

    2. Detach the claws and remove the rear door frame garnish.

  16. REMOVE CURTAIN HOOK (w/ Rear Door Sunshade)

      Remove the 2 screws and curtain hook.

      Tech Tips

      Use the same procedure for all curtain hooks.

  17. REMOVE REAR DOOR SERVICE HOLE COVER LH


    1. A00ORC8

      Disconnect connector and remove the service hole cover.

      Tech Tips

      Remove the remaining tape on the door.

  18. REMOVE REAR DOOR GLASS RUN LH

      Remove the rear door glass run.

  19. REMOVE REAR DOOR WINDOW DIVISION BAR SUB-ASSEMBLY LH


    1. A00OUN7E01

      Remove the screw.

    2. Remove the 2 bolts and rear door window division bar sub-assembly.

  20. REMOVE REAR DOOR QUARTER WINDOW GLASS LH


    1. A00ORWTE01

      Remove the rear door quarter window glass and rear door quarter window weatherstrip as a unit as shown in the illustration.

  21. REMOVE REAR DOOR QUARTER WINDOW WEATHERSTRIP LH


    1. A00OQRAE01

      Remove the rear door quarter window weatherstrip from the rear door quarter window glass.

  22. REMOVE REAR DOOR GLASS SUB-ASSEMBLY LH


    1. A00OT3V

      Remove the rear door glass sub-assembly from the rear door window regulator sub-assembly as shown in the illustration.

      Note

      Do not damage the door glass.

  23. REMOVE REAR DOOR GLASS CHANNEL SUB-ASSEMBLY LH


    1. A00OSC9

      Using a screwdriver, remove the glass channel.

      Note

      Be careful not to damage the glass.

  24. REMOVE REAR DOOR GLASS CHANNEL FILLER


    1. Remove the glass channel filler from the glass channel.

  25. REMOVE REAR DOOR BELT MOULDING LH


    1. for Sedan:

      Remove the rear door belt moulding LH Click here.

    2. for Wagon:

      Remove the rear door belt moulding LH Click here.

  26. REMOVE REAR DOOR WINDOW REGULATOR ASSEMBLY LH


    1. w/ Power Window:

        *1 Temporary Bolt

        Disconnect the connector.

      2. Loosen the temporary bolt.

        Note

        Do not remove the temporary bolt. If the temporary bolt is removed, the rear door window regulator may fall and cause damage.

      3. Remove the 3 bolts.

      4. Remove the rear door window regulator assembly.

      5. Remove the temporary bolt from the rear door window regulator.

    2. A00OV86

      w/o Power Window:

      Remove the 3 bolts and regulator.

      Note

      Be careful when removing the bolts as the regulator may fall and become damaged.

  27. REMOVE REAR DOOR WITH MOTOR LOCK ASSEMBLY LH

      Detach the clamp.

    2. A00OII5E01

      Using a T30 "TORX" wrench, remove the 3 screws.

    3. Move the rear door lock assembly downward, pull the release plate out of the rear door outside handle frame, and remove the rear door lock assembly and cables as a unit.

    4. Remove the door lock wiring harness seal from the rear door lock assembly.

  28. REMOVE REAR DOOR LOCK REMOTE CONTROL CABLE ASSEMBLY LH

      Using a screwdriver, detach the claw.

      Tech Tips

      Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

    2. A00OR1T

      Remove the rear door remote control cable.

  29. REMOVE REAR DOOR INSIDE LOCKING CABLE ASSEMBLY LH

      Using a screwdriver, detach the 3 claws.

      Tech Tips

      Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

      Remove the rear door inside locking cable.

  30. REMOVE REAR DOOR OUTSIDE HANDLE COVER LH

      Using a T30 ''TORX'' socket, loosen the screw and detach the claw to remove the outside handle cover.

  31. REMOVE REAR DOOR OUTSIDE HANDLE ASSEMBLY LH

      Detach the holder as shown in the illustration.

      Remove the handle by sliding and pulling it in the direction indicated by the arrow in the illustration.

  32. REMOVE REAR DOOR FRONT OUTSIDE HANDLE PAD

      Using a T30 ''TORX'' socket, loosen the screw.

    2. Slide the outside handle frame to remove it.

      Tech Tips

      Remove the outside handle frame through the service hole.

  35. REMOVE REAR DOOR INSIDE PANEL REINFORCE SUB-ASSEMBLY LH


    1. A00OUJB

      Remove the 4 bolts and rear door inside panel reinforce sub-assembly.

  36. REMOVE NO. 2 SEPARATOR DOOR STIFFENER CUSHION


    1. A00OVDR

      Remove the bolt and No. 2 separator door stiffener cushion.

  37. REMOVE REAR DOOR CHECK ASSEMBLY LH

      Remove the bolt, 2 nuts and door check.

      Tech Tips

      Remove the door check through the service hole.

      Note

      Be careful when removing the bolt and nuts as the door check may fall and become damaged.

  38. REMOVE REAR DOOR WEATHERSTRIP LH

      for Sedan:


      1. Detach the 19 clips and guide, and remove the rear door weatherstrip.

      2. Remove the double-sided tape.

    2. A00OV3U

      for Wagon:

      Detach the 18 clips and remove the rear door weatherstrip.

  39. REMOVE REAR DOOR WINDOW FRAME MOULDING SUB-ASSEMBLY LH

    *3 Butyl Tape

    1. Put protective tape around the rear door window frame moulding.

    2. Detach the clip from the back of the door panel, and slightly pull the top of the rear door window frame moulding away from the door.

    3. Using a moulding remover, detach the double-sided tape and butyl tape, and remove the rear door window frame moulding.

  40. REMOVE REAR DOOR MOULDING SUB-ASSEMBLY OUTSIDE LH (for Sedan)


    1. Put a 4 mm (0.157 in.) drill bit into a drill.

    2. Wind tape around the drill bit approximately 5 mm (0.197 in.) from the tip of the drill, as shown in the illustration.

      Tech Tips

      Tape the 4 mm (0.157 in.) drill bit to prevent the drill bit from going too deep.

    3. Lightly press the drill against the 8 rivets, drill off the flanges of the 8 rivets, and remove the rear door moulding outside.

      Note


      • Pressing the drill too firmly will cause the rivet to turn and result in the rivet not being drilled through.

      • Do not pry the rivet with the drill, because this may cause damage to the installation holes of the rivet or the drill bit.

      • Be careful of the drilled rivet as it may become hot.

    4. Using a vacuum cleaner, remove the rivet fragments and shavings from the drilled area.

  41. REMOVE REAR DOOR UPPER WINDOW FRAME MOULDING LH (for Wagon)


    1. Put a 4 mm (0.157 in.) drill bit into a drill.

    2. Wind tape around the drill bit approximately 5 mm (0.197 in.) from the tip of the drill, as shown in the illustration.

      Tech Tips

      Tape the 4 mm (0.157 in.) drill bit to prevent the drill bit from going too deep.

    3. Lightly press the drill against the 5 rivets, drill off the flanges of the 5 rivets, and remove the rear door upper window frame moulding.

      Note


      • Pressing the drill too firmly will cause the rivet to turn and result in the rivet not being drilled through.

      • Do not pry the rivet with the drill, because this may cause damage to the installation holes of the rivet or the drill bit.

      • Be careful of the drilled rivet as it may become hot.

    4. Using a vacuum cleaner, remove the rivet fragments and shavings from the drilled area.

  42. REMOVE REAR DOOR REAR WINDOW FRAME MOULDING LH (for Wagon)


    1. Put a 4 mm (0.157 in.) drill bit into a drill.

    2. Wind tape around the drill bit approximately 5 mm (0.197 in.) from the tip of the drill, as shown in the illustration.

    3. Lightly press the drill against the 3 rivets, drill off the flanges of the 3 rivets, and remove the rear door rear window frame moulding.

      • Do not pry the rivet with the drill, because this may cause damage to the installation holes of the rivet or the drill bit.

      • Be careful of the drilled rivet as it may become hot.

    4. Using a vacuum cleaner, remove the rivet fragments and shavings from the drilled area.

  43. REMOVE REAR DOOR NO. 2 WEATHERSTRIP LH


    1. Detach the 7 clips and remove the rear door No. 2 weatherstrip.
