FRONT DOOR REMOVAL

Tech Tips


  • Use the same procedure for the RH and LH sides.

  • The procedure listed below is for the LH side.


  1. PRECAUTION

    Note

    After turning the ignition switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal notice before proceeding with work Click here.

  2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

    Note

    When disconnecting the cable some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Click here.

  3. REMOVE FRONT DOOR INSIDE HANDLE BEZEL PLUG LH

      Using moulding remover A, detach the 3 claws and remove the bezel plug.

  4. REMOVE ASSIST GRIP COVER LH

      Using moulding remover A, detach the 9 claws and remove the assist grip cover.

  5. REMOVE POWER WINDOW REGULATOR MASTER SWITCH ASSEMBLY WITH FRONT DOOR ARMREST BASE PANEL (for Driver Side)

      Using moulding remover A, detach the clip and 7 claws and remove the power window regulator master switch assembly with front door armrest base panel.

    2. Disconnect the connector and remove the power window regulator master switch.

  6. REMOVE POWER WINDOW REGULATOR SWITCH ASSEMBLY WITH FRONT DOOR ARMREST BASE PANEL (for Front Passenger Side)

    Tech Tips

    Use the same procedure described for the driver side.

  7. REMOVE POWER WINDOW REGULATOR MASTER SWITCH ASSEMBLY (for Driver Side)

      1. Remove the 3 screws.

      2. Using moulding remover A, detach the 4 claws and remove the master switch assembly.

    2. w/o Rear Door Power Window:


      1. Remove the 3 screws and master switch assembly.

  8. REMOVE POWER WINDOW REGULATOR SWITCH ASSEMBLY

    1. Detach the 2 claws and remove the regulator switch.

  9. REMOVE FRONT DOOR NO. 1 STIFFENER CUSHION


    1. Remove the front door No. 1 stiffener cushion.

  10. REMOVE FRONT DOOR TRIM BOARD SUB-ASSEMBLY LH

      Remove the 3 screws.

    2. Remove the 10 clips and 2 claws.

    3. Disconnect the courtesy light connector.

      *1 Reference Boss

      Pull out the front door trim board in the direction indicated by the arrow in the illustration to detach the 5 claws of the front inner door glass weatherstrip and remove the reference boss together with the trim board.

    5. Remove the reference boss from the front door trim board.

    6. for Power Seat:

        Detach the wire harness.

      2. A00OVW6

        Disconnect the connector.

      3. Disconnect the 2 cables from the inside handle.

      for Manual Seat:

      Disconnect the 2 cables from the inside handle.

  11. REMOVE COURTESY LIGHT ASSEMBLY

      Detach the 2 claws and remove the courtesy light.

  12. REMOVE SEAT MEMORY SWITCH (for Power Seat)

      Detach the 2 claws and remove the seat memory switch from the door trim board.

  13. REMOVE FRONT DOOR INSIDE HANDLE SUB-ASSEMBLY LH

      Detach the 8 claws and remove the inside handle sub-assembly from the door trim board.

  14. REMOVE FRONT DOOR INNER GLASS WEATHERSTRIP LH


    1. A00OR18

      Detach the 4 claws by pulling the weatherstrip upward in the direction indicated by the arrow in the illustration to remove the weatherstrip.

  15. REMOVE DOOR FRAME GARNISH LH

      Using a clip remover, remove the 2 clips and frame garnish.

  16. REMOVE FRONT NO. 1 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY


    1. A00OSRM

      Disconnect the speaker connector.

    2. Remove the 4 screws.

    3. Detach the claw and remove the speaker.

      Note

      Do not touch the cone part of the speaker.

  17. REMOVE OUTER MIRROR INSTALL HOLE COVER LH

      Detach the 7 claws and remove the install hole cover.

  18. REMOVE OUTER REAR VIEW MIRROR ASSEMBLY LH

    1. Disconnect the connector.

    2. Detach the clamp.

    3. Remove the 3 nuts and outer rear view mirror.

  19. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SERVICE HOLE COVER LH

      for Power Seat:

      Using a clip remover, remove the 3 clamps.

    2. A00OU5X

      for Manual Seat:

      Using a clip remover, remove the 2 clamps.

    3. Disconnect the 3 connectors and remove the service hole cover.

      Tech Tips

      Remove the remaining tape on the door.

  20. REMOVE FRONT DOOR GLASS SUB-ASSEMBLY LH


    1. Connect the connector to the front door window regulator assembly.

    2. for Driver Side:

      Temporarily install the master switch assembly.

    3. for Front Passenger Side:

      Temporarily install the regulator switch assembly.

    4. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal.

    5. Move the door glass until the bolts appear in the service holes.

    6. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

      Note


      • w/ Navigation System (for HDD):

        After the ignition switch is turned off, the HDD navigation system requires approximately a minute to record various types of memory and settings. As a result, after turning the ignition switch off, wait a minute or more before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

      • When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Click here.

    7. A00ORFU

      Remove the 2 bolts.

      Note

      Be careful when removing the bolts as the glass may fall and become damaged.

    8. A00OVP5

      Remove the door glass in the direction indicated by the arrows in the illustration.

      Tech Tips

      Remove the glass upward.

      Note

      Be careful not to damage the glass.

    9. for Driver Side:

      Remove the master switch assembly.

    10. for Front Passenger Side:

      Remove the regulator switch assembly.

    11. Disconnect the connector from the front door window regulator assembly.

  21. REMOVE FRONT DOOR GLASS RUN LH

      Remove the front door glass run.

  22. REMOVE FRONT DOOR BELT MOULDING LH

    1. Put protective tape around the front door belt moulding.

    2. Detach the 8 claws and remove the front door belt moulding.

      Tech Tips

      If either of the claws labeled A is damaged, replace the front door belt moulding with a new one.

  23. REMOVE FRONT DOOR WINDOW REGULATOR ASSEMBLY LH

      *1 Temporary Bolt

      Loosen the temporary bolt.

      Note

      Do not remove the temporary bolt. If the temporary bolt is removed, the front door window regulator may fall and cause damage.

    2. Remove the 5 bolts.

    3. Remove the front door window regulator assembly.

    4. Remove the temporary bolt from the front door window regulator assembly.

  24. REMOVE FRONT DOOR FRONT LOWER FRAME SUB-ASSEMBLY LH

      Remove the screw.

    2. Remove the 3 bolts and frame.

      Note

      Be careful when removing the bolts as the frame may fall and become damaged.

  25. REMOVE FRONT DOOR FIX WINDOW GLASS LH


    1. A00OSX1

      Remove the front door fix window glass and the front door fix window weatherstrip as a unit as shown in the illustration.

  26. REMOVE FRONT DOOR FIX WINDOW WEATHERSTRIP LH

      Remove the front door fix window weatherstrip from the front door fix window glass.

  27. REMOVE FRONT DOOR REAR LOWER FRAME SUB-ASSEMBLY LH

      Remove the bolt and rear lower frame.

  28. REMOVE FRONT DOOR OUTSIDE HANDLE COVER LH (for Driver Side)


    1. A00OUU2

      Remove the hole plug.

    2. Using a T30 "TORX" wrench, loosen the screw and remove the cover with the door lock key cylinder installed.

    3. A00OSPN

      Using a screwdriver, disengage the 3 claws and remove the front door outside handle cover from the cylinder.

  29. REMOVE FRONT DOOR OUTSIDE HANDLE COVER RH (for Front Passenger Side)


    1. A00ORMU

      Remove the hole plug.

    2. Using a T30 "TORX" wrench, loosen the screw and remove the front door outside handle cover.

  30. REMOVE FRONT DOOR OUTSIDE HANDLE ASSEMBLY LH


    1. w/ Entry and Start System:

        Disconnect the 2 claws of the connector cover as shown in the illustration.

        Push the claw of the connector and disconnect the front door wire as shown in the illustration.

  31. REMOVE FRONT DOOR FRONT OUTSIDE HANDLE PAD

      Detach the 3 claws and remove the pad.

  32. REMOVE FRONT DOOR REAR OUTSIDE HANDLE PAD

      Detach the 2 claws and remove the pad.

  33. REMOVE FRONT DOOR LOCK ASSEMBLY LH

      Using a T30 "TORX" wrench, remove the 3 screws.

    2. Slide the front door lock assembly downward, pull out the front door lock open rod from the outside handle frame, and remove the front door lock assembly and cables as a unit.

    3. Remove the front door lock open rod from the front door lock assembly.

    4. Remove the door lock wiring harness seal from the front door lock assembly.

  34. REMOVE FRONT DOOR LOCK REMOTE CONTROL CABLE ASSEMBLY LH

      Remove the front door lock remote control cable assembly.

  35. REMOVE FRONT DOOR INSIDE LOCKING CABLE ASSEMBLY LH

      Using a screwdriver, detach the 3 claws.

      Tech Tips

      Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

      Remove the front door inside locking cable assembly.

  36. REMOVE FRONT DOOR OUTSIDE HANDLE FRAME SUB-ASSEMBLY LH


    1. w/ Entry and Start System:


      1. A00OV69

        Detach the 2 clamps.

      2. A00OQND

        Using a T30 "TORX" wrench, loosen the screw.

      3. Slide the outside handle frame and door wire to remove it.

        Tech Tips

        Remove the outside handle frame through the service hole.

      4. Pull the front door outside handle frame sub-assembly together with the front door wire away from the vehicle.

      5. A00OS6P

        Detach the 2 clamps and 2 claws and remove the front door outside handle frame from the front door wire.

    2. w/ Entry and Start System:


      1. A00OSEW

        Using a T30 "TORX" wrench, loosen the screw.

      2. Slide the outside handle frame to remove it.

        Tech Tips

        Remove the outside handle frame through the service hole.

  37. REMOVE FRONT DOOR LOCK OPEN ROD LH


    1. A00OQU6E01

      Remove the front door lock open rod as shown in the illustration.

  38. REMOVE FRONT DOOR NO. 2 STIFFENER CUSHION


    1. A00OUE1

      Remove the 2 bolts and stiffener cushion.

  39. REMOVE FRONT DOOR CHECK ASSEMBLY LH

    1. Remove the bolt, 2 nuts and door check.

      Tech Tips

      Remove the door check through the service hole.

      Note

      Be careful when removing the bolt and nuts as the door check may fall and become damaged.

  40. REMOVE FRONT DOOR WEATHERSTRIP LH

      Using a clip remover, remove the clip labeled A.

    2. Using a clip remover, detach the 16 clips and remove the weatherstrip.

      Tech Tips

      If clips are damaged during removal, replace them.

  41. REMOVE FRONT DOOR REAR WINDOW FRAME MOULDING LH

    *2 Double-sided Tape
    *3 Butyl Tape

    1. Put protective tape around the front door rear window frame moulding.

    2. Detach the clip from the back of the door panel, and slightly pull the top of the front door rear window frame moulding away from the door.

    3. Using a moulding remover, detach the double-sided tape and butyl tape, and remove the front door rear window frame moulding.

  42. REMOVE FRONT DOOR UPPER WINDOW FRAME MOULDING LH


    1. Put a 4 mm (0.157 in.) drill bit into a drill.

    2. Wind tape around the drill bit approximately 5 mm (0.197 in.) from the tip of the drill, as shown in the illustration.

      Tech Tips

      Tape the 4 mm (0.157 in.) drill bit to prevent the drill bit from going too deep.

    3. Lightly press the drill against the 6 rivets, drill off the flanges of the 6 rivets, and remove the front door upper window frame moulding.

      Note


      • Pressing the drill too firmly will cause the rivet to turn and result in the rivet not being drilled through.

      • Do not pry the rivet with the drill, because this may cause damage to the installation holes of the rivet or the drill bit.

      • Be careful of the drilled rivet as it may become hot.

      Tech Tips

      If a rivet cannot be removed with the drill, hit the flange of the rivet with a screwdriver, etc. to remove the rivet.

    4. Using a vacuum cleaner, remove the rivet fragments and shavings from the drilled area.

  43. REMOVE FRONT DOOR FRONT WINDOW FRAME MOULDING LH


    1. Put a 4 mm (0.157 in.) drill bit into a drill.

    2. Wind tape around the drill bit approximately 5 mm (0.197 in.) from the tip of the drill, as shown in the illustration.

      Tech Tips

      Tape the 4 mm (0.157 in.) drill bit to prevent the drill bit from going too deep.

    3. Lightly press the drill against the 2 rivets, drill off the flanges of the 2 rivets, and remove the front door front window frame moulding.

      Note


      • Pressing the drill too firmly will cause the rivet to turn and result in the rivet not being drilled through.

      • Do not pry the rivet with the drill, because this may cause damage to the installation holes of the rivet or the drill bit.

      • Be careful of the drilled rivet as it may become hot.

      Tech Tips

      If a rivet cannot be removed with the drill, hit the flange of the rivet with a screwdriver, etc. to remove the rivet.

    4. Using a vacuum cleaner, remove the rivet fragments and shavings from the drilled area.

  44. REMOVE FRONT DOOR NO. 3 WEATHERSTRIP LH

      Remove the 7 clips and weatherstrip from the door.
