BACK DOOR GLASS (for Wagon) INSTALLATION


  1. CLEAN BACK DOOR GLASS


    1. Using a scraper, remove the damaged clips, spacers, moulding and adhesive sticking to the glass.

      Clean the outer circumference of the glass with non-residue solvent.

      Note


      • Do not touch the glass surface after cleaning it.

      • Be careful not to damage the glass.

      • Even if using new glass, clean the glass with non-residue solvent.

  2. INSTALL BACK WINDOW GLASS CLIP LH


    1. Apply Primer G to the glass where the clip will be installed.

      Tech Tips

      If the primer is applied to an area that is not specified, apply non-residue solvent to a clean cloth and wipe off the excess primer before it dries.

      Remove the peeling paper from a new clip. Install the clip to the glass at the location shown in the illustration.

      Note


      • Allow the primer to dry for 3 minutes or more.

      • Throw away any leftover primer.

  3. INSTALL BACK WINDOW GLASS CLIP RH


    1. Apply Primer G to the glass where the clip will be installed.

      Tech Tips

      If the primer is applied to an area that is not specified, apply non-residue solvent to a clean cloth and wipe off the excess primer before it dries.

  4. INSTALL BACK DOOR GLASS SPACER


    1. Apply Primer G to the glass where the spacers will be installed.

      Tech Tips

      If the primer is applied to an area that is not specified, apply non-residue solvent to a clean cloth and wipe off the excess primer before it dries.

    2. Remove the peeling paper from 3 new spacers. Install the 3 spacers to the glass at the locations shown in the illustration.

  5. INSTALL BACK WINDOW GLASS ADHESIVE DAM


    1. Using a brush or sponge, coat the application area of the back door glass adhesive dam with Primer G.

  6. INSTALL BACK DOOR GLASS ADHESIVE DAM


    1. Using a brush or sponge, coat the application area of the window glass outside moulding with Primer G.

  7. INSTALL BACK DOOR GLASS

    3. Apply adhesive to the back door glass.

      Toyota Genuine Windshield Glass Adhesive or equivalent

      1. Cut off the tip of a cartridge nozzle as shown in the illustration below.

        Tech Tips

        After cutting off the tip, use all adhesive within the time written in the table below.

      2. Load a sealer gun with the cartridge.

      3. Apply adhesive to the back door glass as shown in the illustration.

    4. Install the back door glass to the vehicle body.


      1. Hold the back door glass securely in place with tape or equivalent until the adhesive has hardened.

        Note


        • Check that the clips are attached to the vehicle body correctly.

        • Check the clearance between the vehicle body and glass.

      2. Lightly press the outer surface of the back door glass to ensure that the back door glass is securely fit to the vehicle body.

        Using a scraper, remove any excess or protruding adhesive.

        Tech Tips

        Apply adhesive to any areas where the amount of adhesive is inadequate.

        Note

        Do not drive the vehicle within the time written in the table below.

      4. Connect the connectors.

  8. CHECK FOR LEAK AND REPAIR


    1. Conduct a leak test after the adhesive has completely hardened.

    2. Seal any leaks with auto glass sealer.

  9. INSTALL REAR WIPER MOTOR GROMMET

      *1 MP grease

      Apply MP grease to the entire surface of the wiper motor grommet lip.

      Tech Tips

      Make sure that the hole does not get clogged with grease and the grooves on the lip are filled with grease.

      Install the rear wiper motor grommet with the position mark facing upward as shown in the illustration.

  10. INSTALL REAR WIPER MOTOR ASSEMBLY


    1. A00OM3D

      Temporarily install the rear wiper motor assembly with the 3 bolts.

    2. Tighten the 3 bolts.

      Torque:
      5.5 N*m  { 56 kgf*cm, 49 in.*lbf }
    3. Connect the connector.

  11. INSTALL REAR WIPER ARM


    1. Operate the rear wiper, and stop the rear wiper motor at the automatic stop position.

      Clean the serrations with a wire brush.

    4. Install the rear wiper arm with the nut.

      Torque:
      5.5 N*m  { 56 kgf*cm, 49 in.*lbf }
    5. Close the wiper arm head cap.

  12. INSTALL REAR SPOILER

    1. Pass the wire harness through the back door panel.

    2. Attach the 3 clips to install the rear spoiler.

    4. Connect the connector and clamp.
