BACK WINDOW GLASS (for Sedan) REMOVAL


  1. PRECAUTION

    Note

    After turning the ignition switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal notice before proceeding with work Click here.

  2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

    CAUTION:

    Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    Note

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Click here.

  3. REMOVE REAR BENCH TYPE SEAT CUSHION ASSEMBLY

    1. Detach the 2 front hooks of the seat cushion from the vehicle body.

      Note

      Follow the instructions below carefully as the cushion frame deforms easily.


      1. Choose a hook to detach first. Place your hands near the hook as shown in the illustration. Then lift the seat cushion to detach the hook.

      2. Repeat for the other hook.

    2. Detach the 2 rear hooks of the seat cushion from the seatback.

      Note

      Be careful not to damage the vehicle body.

  4. REMOVE REAR SIDE SEATBACK ASSEMBLY LH

    1. Remove the bolt and disconnect the rear seat 3 point type belt anchor.

    2. A003AHX

      Using a screwdriver, detach the claw to open the cap of the rear seat shoulder belt guide.

    3. Remove the seat belt from the belt guide.

      Remove the bolt, and then remove the side seatback LH as shown in the illustration.

  5. REMOVE REAR SIDE SEATBACK ASSEMBLY RH

    Use the same procedures described for the LH side.

  6. REMOVE REAR DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH

    1. Detach the 6 claws and clip, and remove the rear door scuff plate.

  7. REMOVE REAR DOOR SCUFF PLATE RH

    Use the same procedure described for the LH side.

  8. REMOVE REAR DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP LH

    1. Remove the front door opening trim weatherstrip.

  9. REMOVE REAR DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP RH

    Use the same procedure described for the LH side.

  10. REMOVE INNER ROOF SIDE GARNISH LH

    1. Detach the 5 clips and remove the inner roof side garnish.

      Tech Tips

      The 2 clips labeled A remain attached to the body.

    2. Remove the 2 clips labeled A from the vehicle body.

  11. REMOVE INNER ROOF SIDE GARNISH RH

    Tech Tips

    Use the same procedure described for the LH side.

  12. REMOVE NO. 1 ROOM LIGHT ASSEMBLY

    1. Detach the 4 claws.

    2. Disconnect the connector and remove the No. 1 room light.

  13. REMOVE REAR ASSIST GRIP ASSEMBLY LH

    1. Using a clip remover, detach the 4 claws.

      Note

      Do not forcibly pry the assist grip plugs to prevent them from being deformed.

      Tech Tips


      • Gently pry on the assist grip plugs as shown in the illustration to remove them.

      • Tape the clip remover tip before use.

      Pull off the 2 assist grip plugs by hand.

    3. Detach the 2 clips and remove the rear assist grip.

    4. Remove the 2 clips from the vehicle body.

  14. REMOVE REAR ASSIST GRIP ASSEMBLY RH

    Use the same procedure described for the LH side.

  15. REMOVE SUNSHADE TRIM HOLDER

      Turn the pin and remove the sunshade trim holder.

  16. REMOVE ROOF HEADLINING ASSEMBLY


    1. Partially remove the roof headlining.

      Tech Tips

      It is not necessary to completely remove the roof headlining. Slightly lower the rear section of the roof headlining so that the back window glass can be removed in a later step.

  17. REMOVE NO. 1 BACK WINDOW MOULDING

    1. Using a knife, cut off the moulding as shown in the illustration.

      Note

      Be careful not to damage the vehicle body.

    2. Pull the shaded area shown in the illustration by the hand to remove the No. 1 back window moulding.

      Tech Tips

      Make a partial cut in the moulding. Then pull and remove it by hand.

  18. REMOVE BACK WINDOW GLASS

      *1 Protective Tape

      Apply protective tape to the outer surface of the vehicle body to prevent scratches.

      Note

      When separating the back window glass from the vehicle, be careful not to damage the vehicle paint or interior/exterior ornaments.

    2. Disconnect the connectors.

      From the interior, insert a piano wire between the vehicle body and back window glass as shown in the illustration.

      Note


      • Make sure not to damage the wire harness.

      • To prevent the scratches when removing the glass, place a plastic sheet under the piano wire.

    4. Tie objects that can serve as handles (for example, wooden blocks) to both wire ends.

      Place matchmarks on the glass and vehicle body at the locations indicated in the illustration.

      Tech Tips

      Matchmarks do not need to be placed if the glass is not going to be reused.

    6. Cut through the adhesive by pulling the piano wire around the back window glass.

      Note

      Leave as much adhesive on the vehicle body as possible when removing the back window glass.

      Using suction cups, remove the back window glass.

  19. REMOVE BACK WINDOW GLASS ADHESIVE DAM


    1. Using a scraper, remove the dam.

      Note

      Be careful not to damage the back window glass.

  20. REMOVE NO. 1 BACK WINDOW GLASS STOPPER


    1. Using a scraper, remove the 2 No. 1 back window glass stoppers.

      Note

      Be careful not to damage the back window glass.

  21. REMOVE NO. 2 BACK WINDOW GLASS STOPPER


    1. Remove the 2 No. 2 back window glass stoppers.

      Tech Tips

      Depending on vehicles, a 1-piece or 2-piece type stopper is used.

  22. CLEAN VEHICLE BODY

    1. Clean and shape the contact surface of the vehicle body.


      1. On the contact surface of the vehicle body, use a knife to cut away excess adhesive as shown in the illustration.

        Tech Tips

        Leave as much adhesive on the vehicle body as possible.

        Note

        Be careful not to damage the vehicle body.

      2. Clean the contact surface of the vehicle body with cleaner.

        Tech Tips

        Even if all the adhesive has been removed, clean the vehicle body.
