QUARTER WINDOW GLASS (for Wagon) INSTALLATION

Tech Tips


  • Use the same procedure for the RH and LH sides.

  • The procedure listed below is for the LH side.

  • A bolt without a torque specification is shown in the standard bolt chart Click here.


  1. INSTALL QUARTER WINDOW ASSEMBLY LH

      Using a brush or sponge, apply primer M to the exposed part of the vehicle body.

      Note


      • Allow the primer coating to dry for 3 minutes or more.

      • Throw away any leftover primer.

      • Do not apply too much primer.

    2. Using a brush or sponge, apply Primer G to the contact surface of the glass.

      Tech Tips

      If primer is applied to an area that is not specified, wipe off the primer with non-residue solvent before it dries.

      Note


      • Allow the primer to dry for 3 minutes or more.

      • Throw away any leftover primer.

      • Do not apply too much primer.

    3. Apply adhesive to the quarter window glass.

      Adhesive
      Toyota Genuine Windshield Glass Adhesive or equivalent

      1. Cut off the tip of a cartridge nozzle as shown in the illustration.

        Tech Tips

        After cutting off the tip, use all adhesive within the time written in the table below.

        5°C (41°F) 8 hours

      2. Load a sealer gun with the cartridge.

      3. Apply adhesive to the quarter window glass as shown in the illustration.

    4. Install the quarter window glass to the vehicle body.


      1. Lightly press the front surface of the glass to ensure a close fit.

        Note


        • Allow the primer coating to dry for 3 minutes or more.

          Check that the clips are attached to the body correctly.

        • Check the clearance between the body and glass.

      2. Hold the quarter window glass in place securely with protective tape or equivalent until the adhesive hardens.

      3. Using a scraper, remove any excess or protruding adhesive.

        Tech Tips

        Apply adhesive to any areas where the amount of adhesive is inadequate.

        Note

        Do not drive the vehicle within the time written in the table below.

    5. Connect the connectors.

  2. CHECK FOR LEAK AND REPAIR


    1. Conduct a leak test after the adhesive has completely hardened.

    2. Seal any leaks with auto glass sealer.

  3. INSTALL INNER ROOF SIDE GARNISH LH

    1. Install a new clip A to the inner roof side garnish.

    2. Attach the 7 clips to install the inner roof side garnish.

  4. INSTALL DECK TRIM SIDE PANEL ASSEMBLY LH


    1. Pass the fuel lid opener cable through the deck trim side panel.

    2. Connect the connector.

    3. Attach the 7 clips and 3 claws to install the deck trim side panel.

    4. Install the bolt and clip.

  5. INSTALL INNER ROOF SIDE GARNISH CAP LH

    1. Attach the 2 claws to install the inner roof side garnish cap.

  6. INSTALL BACK DOOR WEATHERSTRIP

    1. Align the center mark of the back door weatherstrip with the position indicated by the arrow in the illustration and install the back door weatherstrip.

  7. INSTALL REAR DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP LH

    1. Install the rear door opening trim weatherstrip as shown in the illustration.

  8. INSTALL REAR DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH

    1. Attach the clip and 6 claws to install the front door scuff plate.

  9. INSTALL REAR FLOOR FINISH PLATE

    1. Attach the 4 clips to install the rear floor finish plate.

  10. INSTALL DECK FLOOR BOX LH

    1. Attach the 5 guides to install the deck floor box.

  11. INSTALL ROPE HOOK ASSEMBLY (w/o Deck Rail)

    Tech Tips

    Use the same procedure for all the rope hooks.


    1. Install the rope hook with the bolt.

      Torque:
      18 N*m  { 184 kgf*cm, 13 ft.*lbf }

  12. INSTALL NO. 6 DECK SIDE TRIM COVER (w/o Deck Rail)

    1. Attach the 3 claws to install the No. 6 deck side trim cover.

  13. INSTALL FLOOR SIDE RAIL LH (w/ Deck Rail)

    Use the same procedure described for the LH side.

  14. INSTALL REAR DECK FLOOR BOX


    1. Attach the 7 guides to install the rear deck floor box.

    1. Attach the clip to install the No. 3 deck board.

    1. Pull the lever to install the deck board.

  18. INSTALL LOWER DECK TRIM SIDE BOARD LH (w/ Partition Board)

    1. Install the room partition net.

  19. INSTALL ROOM PARTITION NET ASSEMBLY (w/ Partition Net)

    1. Install the room partition net.

  20. INSTALL TONNEAU COVER ASSEMBLY (w/ Tonneau Cover)

    1. Pull the lever to install the tonneau cover.

  21. INSTALL REAR SIDE SEATBACK ASSEMBLY LH

      Install the claw as shown in the illustration.

    2. Install the side seatback with the bolt.

      Torque:
      7.8 N*m  { 80 kgf*cm, 69 in.*lbf }

      Install the rear seat 3 point type belt anchor with the bolt.

      Torque:
      41 N*m  { 418 kgf*cm, 30 ft.*lbf }

      Note

      Do not allow the anchor part of the rear seat 3 point type belt to overlap the protruding parts of the floor panel.

    4. Install the seat belt to the belt guide.

    5. Attach the claw to close the cap of the rear seat shoulder belt guide.

    6. Check if the ELR locks.

      Note

      The check should be performed with the outer belt assembly installed.


      1. With the belt assembly installed, check that the belt locks when it is pulled out quickly.

  22. INSTALL REAR BENCH TYPE SEAT CUSHION ASSEMBLY

    1. Attach the 2 rear hooks of the seat cushion to the seatback.

    2. Attach the 2 front hooks to install the seat cushion.

    3. Confirm that the seat cushion is firmly installed.

      Note

      When installing the seat cushion, make sure the seat belt buckle is not under the seat cushion.
