STEERING GEAR INSTALLATION


  1. INSTALL TIE ROD END SUB-ASSEMBLY LH

      Install the lock nut and tie rod end to the steering gear so that the matchmarks align.

      Tech Tips

      After adjusting toe-in, tighten the lock nut to the specified torque.

    Use the same procedures described for the LH side.

  3. INSTALL STEERING LINK ASSEMBLY

      Install the steering link to the front suspension crossmember with the 2 bolts and 2 nuts.

      Torque:
      110 N*m  { 1122 kgf*cm, 81 ft.*lbf }

      Note


      • Make sure to tighten the bolts starting from the left side of the vehicle.

      • Because the nut has its own stopper, do not turn the nut. Tighten the bolt with the nut fixed in place.

  4. INSTALL STEERING INTERMEDIATE SHAFT

      Align the matchmarks and install the steering intermediate shaft to the steering link.

    2. Install the bolt.

      Torque:
      35 N*m  { 357 kgf*cm, 26 ft.*lbf }

  5. INSTALL NO. 1 STEERING COLUMN HOLE COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY

      Align the round hole in the No. 1 steering column hole cover with the protrusion of the steering link and install the cover.

  6. INSTALL REAR ENGINE MOUNTING INSULATOR

      Install the rear engine mounting insulator with the 3 bolts and 2 nuts.

      Torque:
      95 N*m  { 969 kgf*cm, 70 ft.*lbf }

  7. INSTALL FRONT SUSPENSION CROSSMEMBER SUB-ASSEMBLY

    1. Support the front suspension crossmember with a transmission jack.

    2. Install the front suspension crossmember and 4 front suspension member mounting stoppers with the 4 bolts and 2 nuts, and tighten the bolts and nuts in several steps while alternately inserting SST into the left and right reference holes of the front suspension crossmember.

      for bolt B and nut B

      Attach the 2 clamps and claw to connect the oxygen sensor wire to the front suspension crossmember.

  8. INSTALL FRONT SUSPENSION MEMBER REAR BRACE LH

      Install the front brace with the 4 bolts.

      Torque:
      87 N*m  { 887 kgf*cm, 64 ft.*lbf }

      Note


      • Tighten the bolts in the order of B, C, D and A.

      • Make sure that the protrusion of the No. 1 front stabilizer bar bushing protrudes from the hole of the front suspension member front brace LH when installing the front suspension member front brace LH.

  9. INSTALL FRONT SUSPENSION MEMBER REAR BRACE RH

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  10. CONNECT TIE ROD END SUB-ASSEMBLY LH

      Connect the tie rod end to the steering knuckle with the nut.

      Torque:
      49 N*m  { 500 kgf*cm, 36 ft.*lbf }

      Note

      Tighten the nut up to an additional 60° if the holes for the cotter pin are not aligned.

    2. Install a new cotter pin.

  11. CONNECT TIE ROD END SUB-ASSEMBLY RH

    Use the same procedures described for the LH side.

  12. INSTALL FRONT STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY LH

      Connect the front stabilizer link to the front stabilizer bar with the nut.

      Torque:
      74 N*m  { 755 kgf*cm, 55 ft.*lbf }

      Tech Tips

      If the ball joint turns together with the nut, use a 6 mm hexagon wrench to hold the stud bolt.

  13. INSTALL FRONT STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY RH

    Tech Tips

    Use the same procedures described for the LH side.

  14. INSTALL FRONT SUSPENSION MEMBER REINFORCEMENT LH

      Install the reinforcement with the 4 bolts.

      Torque:
      96 N*m  { 979 kgf*cm, 71 ft.*lbf }

      Note

      Tighten the bolts in the order of C, B, D and A.

  15. INSTALL FRONT SUSPENSION MEMBER REINFORCEMENT RH

      Install the reinforcement with the 4 bolts.

      Torque:
      96 N*m  { 979 kgf*cm, 71 ft.*lbf }

      Note

      Tighten the bolts in the order of C, B, D and A.

  16. INSTALL REAR ENGINE UNDER COVER LH


    1. Install the under cover with the 5 clips.

  17. INSTALL REAR ENGINE UNDER COVER RH

      Install the under cover with the 5 clips.

  18. INSTALL NO. 4 CENTER ENGINE UNDER COVER

      Install the engine under cover with the 2 clips.

  19. INSTALL NO. 2 ENGINE UNDER COVER

      Install the No. 2 engine under cover with the 4 clips.

  20. INSTALL NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER

  21. INSTALL FRONT LOWER BUMPER ABSORBER

      Insert the 2 hooks of the front lower bumper absorber into the installation holes on the body to install the front lower bumper absorber.

    2. Install the 8 bolts and 3 screws.

      Install the 4 screws and 2 bolts.

  22. CONNECT NO. 1 STEERING COLUMN HOLE COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY

    1. Attach clip B to the body and install the No. 1 steering column hole cover to the body with clip A.

      Note

      Make sure that the lip of the No. 1 steering column hole cover is not damaged.

  23. CONNECT NO. 2 STEERING INTERMEDIATE SHAFT ASSEMBLY

      Align the matchmarks on the No. 2 steering intermediate shaft assembly and steering intermediate shaft assembly.

      Install the bolt.

      Torque:

  24. INSTALL COLUMN HOLE COVER SILENCER SHEET


    1. A00OTXT

      Install the column hole cover silencer sheet with the 2 clips.

    2. Install the floor carpet.

  25. INSTALL FRONT WHEELS

    Torque:
    103 N*m  { 1050 kgf*cm, 75 ft.*lbf }

  26. ADJUST FRONT WHEEL ALIGNMENT
