ENTER PARKING BRAKE FULL RELEASE MODE (ACTIVE TEST)
Turn the ignition switch off.
Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.
Turn the ignition switch to ON.
Turn the intelligent tester on.
Enter the following menus: Chassis / Electric Parking Brake / Active Test / Full Release Mode Activation.
Note
If the parking brake cannot be released, use the luggage compartment's parking brake release tool to manually release the parking brake.
Observe the following notices to release the parking brake with the emergency release cable.
Prevent the vehicle from moving with wheel chocks or equivalent.
Make sure the PARK warning light is off.
Make sure the shift lever is in P (for Automatic Transaxle), or 1st or R (for Manual Transaxle).
Make sure the ignition switch is off.
Perform all work on a level surface.
If using the parking brake release tool, be sure to turn the tool until it stops.
DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
Note
w/ Navigation System for HDD:
After the ignition switch is turned off, the HDD navigation system requires approximately a minute to record various types of memory and settings. As a result, after turning the ignition switch off, wait a minute or more before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Click here.

Remove the rear disc LH Click here.

Tech Tips
Use the same procedures described for the LH side.
REMOVE NO. 2 UNDER FLOOR COVER
Remove the 6 clips and under cover.
DISCONNECT PARKING BRAKE CABLE AND EMERGENCY RELEASE CABLE
Remove the clamp.
Remove the bolt and clamp.
Remove the 2 nuts and casing cap.
Remove the bolt and clamp from the trailing arm LH.
Remove the bolt and clamp from the trailing arm RH.
CLEAN REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER SUB-ASSEMBLY
Remove the rear suspension member sub-assembly Click here.
REMOVE PARKING BRAKE WITH CABLE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY
Disconnect the clamp from the rear suspension member.
Remove the 2 bolts and 2 clamps from the rear suspension member.
Remove the 4 nuts and actuator from the rear suspension member.
Note
Do not carry the electric parking brake actuator by the cable.
Do not drop the electric parking brake actuator. If the electric parking brake actuator is dropped, it cannot be reused.
REMOVE PARKING BRAKE ACTUATOR SUPPORT BRACKET
Remove the 4 bolts and parking brake actuator support bracket.
