C13A8/44 Tension Sensor Malfunction

DESCRIPTION

The tension sensor is built into the parking brake with bracket actuator assembly. It detects the tension value of the parking brake cable and outputs the value to the electric parking brake ECU.

One of the following conditions is met:


  • The tension sensor signal exceeds the upper or lower fault threshold.

  • An electrical disconnection of the tension sensor pins.

  • The tension sensor signal shows an implausible gradient.

  • The tension sensor signal shows too high an offset from the calibrated value in the release or mounting position.

  • Parking brake cable

  • Parking brake with bracket actuator assembly

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

Note


  • Before performing work, turn the ignition switch off and wait approximately 20 seconds to make sure that the parking brake cannot operate.

  • When replacing the parking brake with bracket actuator assembly, perform zero point calibration Click here.

PROCEDURE


  1. CHECK PARKING BRAKE CABLE


    1. Check that the parking brake cable is securely installed Click here.

    INSTALL PARKING BRAKE CABLE SECURELY Click here

    OK

  2. CHECK DTC


    1. Clear the DTCs Click here.

    2. Operate the electric parking brake switch.

    3. Check for DTCs Click here.
