VACUUM PUMP INSTALLATION


  1. INSTALL VACUUM PUMP ASSEMBLY

      *1 Oil Pipe
      *2 O-Ring

      Apply engine oil to the oil pipe at the tip of the vacuum pump.

    2. Coat 2 new O-rings with engine oil, and install them to the vacuum pump.

      Install the vacuum pump so that the coupling teeth of the vacuum pump (labeled A) and the grooves of the camshaft (labeled B) can engage.

      Install the vacuum pump with 3 new flange bolts.

      Torque:
      21 N*m  { 214 kgf*cm, 15 ft.*lbf }

    5. Connect the 2 vacuum hoses.

  2. INSPECT VACUUM PUMP OPERATION


    1. Disconnect the vacuum hose from the vacuum pump.

    2. A003B7ZE01

      Connect the hose of the vacuum gauge to the vacuum pump.

    3. Start the engine and warm it up for more than 2 minutes.

    4. With the engine idling, check the negative pressure of the vacuum pump.

      Standard pressure
      Higher than 87 kPa (650 mmHg, 25.6 in.Hg)

      Tech Tips

      It is necessary to replace the vacuum pump every 200000 km (124000 miles).

    5. Remove the vacuum gauge from the vacuum pump.

    6. Connect the vacuum hose to the vacuum pump.
