FRONT SUSPENSION MEMBER REMOVAL


  1. PLACE FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD

  2. REMOVE FRONT WHEELS

  3. REMOVE FRONT BUMPER ABSORBER LOWER COVER

      Remove the 4 screws and 2 bolts.

    2. A003ALH

      Remove the 8 bolts and 3 screws.

    3. Detach the 2 hooks of the front lower bumper absorber from the installation holes on the body and remove the front lower bumper absorber.

  4. REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER


    1. A006TQR

      Remove the 11 clips the engine under cover.

  5. REMOVE CENTER NO. 4 ENGINE UNDER COVER

      Remove the 2 clips and under cover.

  6. REMOVE REAR ENGINE UNDER COVER LH


    1. Remove the 5 clips and under cover.

  7. REMOVE REAR ENGINE UNDER COVER RH

    Tech Tips

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  8. SECURE STEERING WHEEL

  9. REMOVE COLUMN HOLE COVER SILENCER SHEET

      Fold back the floor carpet, and remove the 2 clips and then column hole cover silencer sheet.

  10. REMOVE NO. 2 STEERING INTERMEDIATE SHAFT ASSEMBLY

      Remove the bolt.

      Note

      Do not disconnect the No. 2 steering intermediate shaft assembly from the steering intermediate shaft.

      Put matchmarks on the No. 2 steering intermediate shaft assembly and steering intermediate shaft.

    3. Disconnect the No. 2 steering intermediate shaft assembly from the steering intermediate shaft.

  11. REMOVE NO. 1 STEERING COLUMN HOLE COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY

    1. Remove clip A and the No. 1 steering column hole cover and detach clip B from the body.

      Note

      Do not damage clip A or B.

  12. DISCONNECT FRONT STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY LH

    1. Remove the nut and disconnect the stabilizer link assembly LH from the front stabilizer bar.

      Tech Tips

      If the ball joint turns together with the nut, use a 6 mm hexagon wrench to hold the stud bolt.

  13. DISCONNECT FRONT STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY RH

    Tech Tips

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  14. DISCONNECT TIE ROD END SUB-ASSEMBLY LH


    1. Remove the cotter pin and nut.

    2. A010PVDE02

      Install SST to the tie rod end.

      Note

      Make sure that the top of SST aligns with the top of the tie rod end.

    3. Using SST, separate the tie rod end from the steering knuckle.

      Note

      Apply grease to the bolt threads and the tip of SST.

      Note


      • Be sure to tighten the string firmly to secure SST to the steering knuckle to prevent SST from falling off.

      • Install SST with the center nut so that A and B are parallel. Otherwise, the dust cover may be damaged.

      • Be sure to place the wrench on the part indicated in the illustration.

      • Do not damage the front disc brake dust cover.

      • Do not damage the ball joint dust cover.

      • Do not damage the steering knuckle.

  15. DISCONNECT TIE ROD END SUB-ASSEMBLY RH

    Tech Tips

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  16. LOOSEN FRONT NO. 1 LOWER SUSPENSION ARM SUB-ASSEMBLY LH

      Loosen the bolt.

      Note

      Because the nut has its own stopper, do not turn the nut. Loosen the bolt with the nut fixed in place.

  17. LOOSEN FRONT NO. 1 LOWER SUSPENSION ARM SUB-ASSEMBLY RH

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  18. DISCONNECT FRONT NO. 1 LOWER SUSPENSION ARM SUB-ASSEMBLY LH

      Loosen the bolt.

      Note

      Because the nut has its own stopper, do not turn the nut. Loosen the bolt with the nut fixed in place.

  19. DISCONNECT FRONT NO. 1 LOWER SUSPENSION ARM SUB-ASSEMBLY RH

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  20. REMOVE FRONT SUSPENSION MEMBER REINFORCEMENT LH


    1. A010NCR

      Remove the 4 bolts and front suspension member reinforcement LH.

  21. REMOVE FRONT SUSPENSION MEMBER REINFORCEMENT RH


    1. A010RHP

      Remove the 4 bolts and front suspension member reinforcement RH.

  22. REMOVE FRONT SUSPENSION MEMBER REAR BRACE LH


    1. A010R4F

      Remove the 3 bolts and front suspension member rear brace LH.

  23. REMOVE FRONT SUSPENSION MEMBER REAR BRACE RH

  24. REMOVE FRONT SUSPENSION CROSSMEMBER SUB-ASSEMBLY


    1. A010SAM

      Detach the 2 clamps and claw, and disconnect the oxygen sensor wire from the front suspension crossmember.

    2. Support the front suspension crossmember with a transmission jack.

    3. Remove the 4 bolts, 2 nuts and front suspension crossmember.

  25. REMOVE FRONT NO. 1 LOWER SUSPENSION ARM SUB-ASSEMBLY LH

      Remove the 2 bolts, nut and front lower suspension arm from the front suspension crossmember.

      Note

      Because the nut has its own stopper, do not turn the nut. Loosen the bolt with the nut fixed in place.

  26. REMOVE FRONT NO. 1 LOWER SUSPENSION ARM SUB-ASSEMBLY RH

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  27. REMOVE FRONT SUSPENSION MEMBER FRONT BRACE LH

      Remove the 4 bolts and front suspension member front brace.

  28. REMOVE FRONT SUSPENSION MEMBER FRONT BRACE RH

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  29. REMOVE FRONT STABILIZER BAR

      Remove the front stabilizer bar from the front suspension crossmember.

  30. REMOVE STEERING LINK ASSEMBLY

      Remove the 2 bolts, 2 nuts and steering link from the front suspension crossmember.

      Note

      Because the nut has its own stopper, do not turn the nut. Loosen the bolt with the nut fixed in place.

  31. REMOVE FRONT SUSPENSION MEMBER DYNAMIC DAMPER

    1. Remove the 2 bolts and dynamic damper from the suspension member.

  32. REMOVE CAB REAR MOUNTING CUSHION


    1. Remove the 4 cab rear mounting cushions from the suspension member.

  33. REMOVE FRONT SUSPENSION MEMBER FRONT BODY MOUNTING CUSHION
