DESCRIPTION

The EGR cooler VSV is controlled by the ECM, and the opening and closing of the EGR cooler bypass valve is performed according to the vacuum applied by the vacuum pump.

  1. INSPECT EGR COOLER VSV


    1. Inspect the EGR cooler VSV Click here.

  2. CHECK EGR COOLER VSV (POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT)

      Disconnect the EGR cooler VSV connector.

    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage
      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      B56-1 - Body ground Ignition switch ON 11 to 14 V
    3. Reconnect the EGR cooler VSV connector.

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (EGR COOLER VSV - ECM)

      Disconnect the EGR cooler VSV connector.

    2. Disconnect the ECM connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance (Check for Open)
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      B56-2 - B39-106 (ECBV) Always Below 1 Ω
      Standard Resistance (Check for Short)
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      B56-2 or B39-106 (ECBV) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
    4. Reconnect the EGR cooler VSV connector.

    5. Reconnect the ECM connector.

  4. REPLACE ECM

  6. REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

    Tech Tips

    If the voltage at the EGR cooler VSV connector is not 11 to 14 V, repair or replace the harness and connector between the EGR cooler VSV and EFI MAIN relay (including the EFI No. 2 fuse).


    1. Repair or replace the harness or connector.

  7. CONFIRM WHETHER MALFUNCTION HAS BEEN SUCCESSFULLY REPAIRED


    1. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

    2. Clear the DTCs Click here.

    3. Turn the ignition switch to ON for 3 seconds.

    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / DTC.

    5. Confirm that the DTC is not output again.
