AIRBAG SYSTEM SYSTEM DESCRIPTION

  1. GENERAL

    1. Deceleration sensors and pressure sensors used for the airbag system are installed to various parts on the vehicle and calculate the deceleration rate and pressure of each part during a collision.

    2. Depending on the situation, the airbag ECU assembly sends a deployment signal to each airbag squib, pretensioner squib and pop up hood squib based on the information from each sensor.

  2. DEPLOYMENT CONDITION (ITEMS FOR OCCUPANT PROTECTION)

    1. FRONTAL COLLISION

      A01F8SSE01

      1. Frontal collision signals are produced based on the information from the airbag ECU assembly and front airbag sensors.

        Tech Tips

In case of a frontal collision, the SRS ignition signal may be output after receiving an ON signal from the deceleration sensor built into the airbag ECU assembly even without a signal from the front airbag sensors.

      2. Frontal collision signals are used to deploy the SRS parts in the diagram.

    2. SIDE COLLISION (Pattern 1)

      A01F86XE04

      1. Side collision (Pattern 1) signals are produced based on the information from the airbag ECU assembly, side airbag sensor assembly and door side airbag sensor.

      2. Side collision (Pattern 1) signals are used to deploy the SRS parts in the diagram.

    3. SIDE COLLISION (Pattern 2)

      *1 Rear Airbag Sensor
      *2 AND
      *3 Curtain Shield Airbag Assembly
      *4 Airbag ECU Assembly

      1. Side collision (Pattern 2) signals are produced based on the information from the airbag ECU assembly and rear airbag sensor.

      2. Side collision (Pattern 2) signals are used to deploy the SRS part in the diagram.

  3. DEPLOYMENT CONDITION (ITEMS FOR PEDESTRIAN PROTECTION)

    1. A pedestrian collision signal is sent from the pedestrian protection sensors to the airbag ECU assembly.

      *1 Pedestrian Protection Sensor LH/RH
      *2 Airbag ECU Assembly
      *3 Vehicle Speed Signal, etc.
*4 Pop Up Hood Lifter Assembly LH/RH
    2. Based on a signal from the pedestrian protection sensors and vehicle speed signal, etc., when the specified conditions are met, the airbag ECU assembly sends an ignition signal to the pop up hood lifters.
