AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION SYSTEM(for 2GR-FKS), Diagnostic DTC:P074011

DTC Code DTC Name
P074011 Torque Converter Clutch Circuit Short to Ground

DESCRIPTION

By turning the shift solenoid valve SL ON or OFF, the ECM controls the fluid pressure to the lock-up relay valve, performing lock-up control.

DTC No. Detection Item DTC Detection Condition Trouble Area MIL Memory Note
P074011 Torque Converter Clutch Circuit Short to Ground While the vehicle is being driven so that lock-up is not requested, a short to ground is detected in the shift solenoid valve SL circuit (2-trip detection logic).
  • Harness and connector

  • Transmission wire

  • Shift solenoid valve SL

  • ECM

Comes on DTC stored SAE Code: P2769

Fail-safe function:

If the ECM detects a malfunction, it turns the shift solenoid valve SL OFF.

MONITOR DESCRIPTION

Based on the signals from the throttle position sensor, the air flow meter and the crankshaft position sensor, the ECM sends a signal to the shift solenoid valve SL to regulate the hydraulic pressure and provide smooth torque converter assembly engagement. The shift solenoid valve SL responds to commands from the ECM and controls the lock-up relay valve to perform the torque-converter lock-up function. If the ECM detects a short in the shift solenoid valve SL circuit, it will illuminate the MIL and store a DTC.

CONFIRMATION DRIVING PATTERN

CAUTION:

When performing the confirmation driving pattern, obey all speed limits and traffic laws.

Tech Tips

After repairs have been completed, clear the DTCs and then check that the vehicle has returned to normal by performing the following All Readiness check procedure.

  1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

  2. Turn the engine switch on (IG) and turn the GTS on.

  3. Clear the DTCs (even if no DTCs are stored, perform the clear DTC procedure).

  4. Turn the engine switch off and wait for 2 minutes or more.

  5. Turn the engine switch on (IG) and turn the GTS on.

  6. Start the engine.

  7. Perform the Lock-up Function inspection in Road Test.

  8. Stop the vehicle.

  9. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Transmission / Utility / All Readiness.

  10. Input the DTC: P074011.

  11. Check the DTC judgment result.

    GTS Display Description
    NORMAL
    • DTC judgment completed

    • System normal

    ABNORMAL
    • DTC judgment completed

    • System abnormal

    INCOMPLETE
    • DTC judgment not completed

    • Perform driving pattern after confirming DTC enabling conditions

    N/A
    • Unable to perform DTC judgment

    • Number of DTCs which do not fulfill DTC preconditions has reached ECU memory limit

    Tech Tips

    • If the judgment result shows NORMAL, the system is normal.

    • If the judgment result shows ABNORMAL, the system has a malfunction.

    • If the judgment result shows INCOMPLETE or N/A, perform the Confirmation Driving Pattern and check the DTC judgment result again.
