MONITOR DESCRIPTION

When an open or short in a solenoid (SLU) valve circuit is detected, the ECM will determine that there is a malfunction, illuminate the MIL and store this DTC.

Tech Tips

After the performing repair, clear the DTCs and perform the following procedure to check that DTCs are not output.


  1. Perform the Lock-up Function inspection in Road Test.

  1. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (TRANSMISSION WIRE (SOLENOID (SLU) VALVE) - ECM)


    1. Disconnect the F66 ECM connector.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F66-3 (SLU+) - F66-2 (SLU-) 20°C (68°F) 5.0 to 5.6 Ω
      F66-3 (SLU+) or F66-2 (SLU-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

  2. REPLACE ECM


    1. Replace the ECM.

    1. Disconnect the F61 transmission wire connector.

    2. Disconnect the F66 ECM connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Terminal 1 of the solenoid (SLU) valve - terminal 2 20°C (68°F) 5.0 to 5.6 Ω
    3. Connect a positive (+) lead from the battery with a 21 W bulb to terminal 2 and a negative (-) lead to terminal 1 of the solenoid valve connector. Check that the valve moves and makes an operating sound.
