TURBOCHARGER REASSEMBLY

PROCEDURE


  1. INSTALL PIN

    Tech Tips

    If the pin is deformed or damaged, replace it.

      *a Standard Protrusion Amount

      Using a hammer, tap in a new pin to the position shown in the illustration.

      Standard Protrusion Amount
      2.9 to 3.8 mm (0.114 to 0.150 in.)

  2. INSTALL STUD BOLT

    Tech Tips

    If a stud bolt is deformed or its threads are damaged, replace it.


    1. A01R5PD

      Using an E5 "TORX" socket wrench, install 4 new stud bolts.

      Torque:
      5.5 N*m  { 56 kgf*cm, 49 in.*lbf }
    2. A01R3KC

      Using an E8 "TORX" socket wrench, install 4 new stud bolts.

      Torque:
      10 N*m  { 102 kgf*cm, 7 ft.*lbf }

  3. INSTALL COMPRESSOR HOUSING WITH BEARING SUB-ASSEMBLY

    Note

    After removal and installation of the waste gate valve actuator with bracket assembly, make sure to check the travel of the waste gate valve actuator.

      Secure the flange of the turbine housing with valve sub-assembly of the turbocharger sub-assembly in a vise between aluminum plates.

      Note

      Do not tighten the vise more than necessary, as doing so may damage the flange of the turbine housing with valve sub-assembly.

    2. A01R5MS

      Align the pin of the compressor housing with bearing sub-assembly with the pin hole of the turbine housing with valve sub-assembly, and set the compressor housing with bearing sub-assembly to the turbine housing with valve sub-assembly.

      Note

      Be careful not to damage the turbine housing with the valve sub-assembly.

      *a Turbo Water Pipe Installation Surface
      *b Inlet Turbo Oil Pipe Installation Surface

      Set a new V band so that the opening is positioned as shown in the illustration.

      Note

      Do not reuse the V band.

    4. Tighten the nut.

      Torque:
      5.0 N*m  { 51 kgf*cm, 44 in.*lbf }

  4. INSTALL INTAKE AIR CONTROL VALVE (AIR BY-PASS VALVE ASSEMBLY)

  5. INSTALL WASTE GATE VALVE ACTUATOR WITH BRACKET ASSEMBLY

    Note

    After removal and installation of the waste gate valve actuator with bracket assembly, make sure to check the travel of the waste gate valve actuator.


    1. Install the waste gate valve actuator with bracket assembly with the 2 bolts.

      Torque:
      24 N*m  { 245 kgf*cm, 18 ft.*lbf }

    2. Install a new E-washer to the waste gate valve actuator with bracket assembly link pin.

      Note

      Do not reuse the E-washer.
