FRONT CRANKSHAFT OIL SEAL REMOVAL

PROCEDURE


  1. DRAIN ENGINE OIL

    Click here

  2. REMOVE FAN SHROUD

    Click here

  3. REMOVE V-RIBBED BELT

    Click here

  4. REMOVE NO. 1 WATER BY-PASS PIPE (w/ Oil Cooler)

    Click here

  5. REMOVE OIL FILTER BRACKET SUB-ASSEMBLY

    Click here

  6. REMOVE CRANKSHAFT PULLEY

      Using SST, loosen the crankshaft pulley bolt.

      *a Hold
      B0073AQ Turn

      Tighten the crankshaft pulley bolt to 2 or 3 threads of the crankshaft.

    3. Using SST, remove the crankshaft pulley bolt and crankshaft pulley.

      Tech Tips

      Apply grease to the threads and tip of SST (center bolt) prior to use.

  7. REMOVE CRANKSHAFT TIMING GEAR KEY

      Remove the crankshaft timing gear key of the key groove.

  8. REMOVE TIMING CHAIN CASE OIL SEAL

      *a Protective Tape

      Using a screwdriver with its tip wrapped with protective tape, pry out the timing chain case oil seal.

      Note

      After the removal, check the crankshaft for damage. If it is damaged, smooth the surface with 400-grit sandpaper.
