Note
If one of the camshaft timing gear bolts has been removed, do not remove the other camshaft timing gear bolts.
PROCEDURE
REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER ASSEMBLY
REMOVE CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL SOLENOID ASSEMBLY
REMOVE INLET NO. 1 AIR CLEANER
SET NO. 1 CYLINDER TO TDC/COMPRESSION

Turn the crankshaft clockwise to align the timing mark (cutout) on the crankshaft pulley with the "0" timing mark on the timing chain cover assembly.

Check that the protrusion on the inside of the camshaft timing gear assembly is at the top.
Tech Tips
If the protrusion is not at the top, rotate the crankshaft clockwise 360° and align the timing marks again.
REMOVE CAMSHAFT TIMING GEAR BOLT
Using SST, hold the crankshaft pulley.
Remove the camshaft timing gear bolt.
Note
If the camshaft timing gear bolt has been struck or dropped, replace it.
