DESCRIPTION

The rear cooling unit expansion valve is controlled by the air conditioning amplifier assembly.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

PROCEDURE


  1. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING INTELLIGENT TESTER (REAR COOLING UNIT EXPANSION VALVE)


    1. Select the Active Test, use the intelligent tester to generate a control command, and then check that the rear cooling unit expansion valve operates.

      OK
      Rear magnetic valve operates normally.

    NG

    INSPECT FUSE (A/C IG) Click here

    OK

    REPLACE AIR CONDITIONING AMPLIFIER ASSEMBLY Click here

  2. INSPECT FUSE (A/C IG)


    1. Remove the A/C IG fuse from the cowl side junction block LH.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A/C IG fuse Always Below 1 Ω

    NG

    REPLACE FUSE

    OK

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (AIR CONDITIONING WIRING HARNESS - BATTERY)


    1. A01ERZ3E03

      Disconnect the air conditioning wiring harness sub-assembly connector.

    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage
      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      2 (+S) - Body ground Engine switch off Below 1 V
      Engine switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V

    NG

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

    OK

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (AIR CONDITIONING WIRING HARNESS - AIR CONDITIONING AMPLIFIER)

    1. Disconnect the air conditioning wiring harness sub-assembly connector.

    2. Disconnect the E36 amplifier connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      3 (RMGV) - E36-19 (RMGV) Always Below 1 Ω
      3 (RMGV) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      E36-19 (RMGV) - Body ground

    NG

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

    OK

  5. CHECK REAR COOLING UNIT EXPANSION VALVE (OPERATION)


    1. Replace the rear cooling unit expansion valve Click here.

      Tech Tips

      Since the rear cooling unit expansion valve cannot be inspected while it is removed from the vehicle, replace the rear cooling unit expansion valve with a normal one and check that the condition returns to normal.

  6. CHECK AIR CONDITIONING WIRING HARNESS SUB-ASSEMBLY (OPERATION)


    1. Replace the air conditioning wiring harness sub-assembly with a normal one and check that the condition returns to normal.

      OK
      Same problem does not occur.
