DESCRIPTION

Power is supplied to the multi-media module receiver assembly, multi-display assembly and steering pad switch assembly illumination when the light control switch is in the tail or head position.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

  • Inspect the fuse for circuits related to this system before performing the following inspection procedure.

PROCEDURE


  1. CHECK ILLUMINATION


    1. Check if the illumination for the multi-media module receiver assembly, multi-display assembly, steering pad switch assembly or others (hazard switch etc.) comes on when the light control switch is turned to the head or tail position.

      Illumination comes on for all components except steering pad switch assembly. A

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ILLUMINATION SIGNAL)

      Disconnect the spiral cable sub-assembly connector.

    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      E102-13 (IL+2) - Body ground Light control switch in the tail or head position 11 to 14 V

  3. CHECK NO. 1 SWITCH WIRE


    1. Disconnect the z54 and z51 No. 1 switch wire connectors.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      z54-9 - z51-8 Always Below 1 Ω
      z54-5 - z51-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      z54-9 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      z54-5 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

  6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (MULTI-MEDIA MODULE RECEIVER ASSEMBLY, MULTI-DISPLAY ASSEMBLY - SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY)


    1. Disconnect the F76 multi-media module receiver assembly connector.

    2. Disconnect the F78 multi-display assembly connector.

    3. Disconnect the E102 spiral cable sub-assembly connector.

    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F76-14 (ILL+) - E102-13 (IL+2) Always Below 1 Ω
      F76-32 (SWG) - E102-4 (EAU) Always Below 1 Ω
      F78-2 (ILL) - E102-13 (IL+2) Always Below 1 Ω
      F76-14 (ILL+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      F76-32 (SWG) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      F78-2 (ILL) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

  7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (MULTI-DISPLAY ASSEMBLY - COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY, BATTERY AND BODY GROUND)


    1. Disconnect the F78 multi-display assembly connector.

    2. Disconnect the E77 combination meter assembly connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      F78-14 (ILL-) - E77-17 (ILL-) Always Below 1 Ω
      F78-14 (ILL-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      E77-20 (EP) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
    4. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      F78-2 (ILL) - Body ground Light control switch in the tail or head position 11 to 14 V

    1. Disconnect the F76 multi-media module receiver assembly connector.

    2. Disconnect the E77 combination meter assembly connector.

    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
