DESCRIPTION

The headlight swivel motor (leveling portion) operates by receiving a signal from the AFS ECU. The AFS ECU detects the headlight swivel motor (leveling portion) status using the signal from the headlight swivel motor (leveling portion).

  • Open or short in the headlight swivel motor LH (leveling portion) communication circuit.

  • Headlight unit LH

  • Harness or connector
B2425

When either condition below is met:


  • Malfunction in the headlight swivel motor (leveling portion) RH.

  • Open or short in the headlight swivel motor RH (leveling portion) communication circuit.

  • Headlight leveling motor RH (leveling portion)

  1. CHECK FOR DTC


    1. Clear the DTCs Click here.

    2. Check for DTCs Click here.

      OK
      DTC B2424 or B2425 output does not occur.

    CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (AFS ECU - BODY GROUND) Click here

    OK

    USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK Click here

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (AFS ECU - BODY GROUND)


    1. A01ERXNE44

      Disconnect the E91 ECU connector.

    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage
      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      E91-14 (IGS) - Body ground Engine switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V
      E91-15 (IG) - Body ground Engine switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      E91-22 (E1) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (AFS ECU - HEADLIGHT)


    1. A01ERKHE12

      Disconnect the E91 ECU connector.

    2. Disconnect the A40*1 or A46*2 actuator connector.


      • *1: for LH

      • *2: for RH

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

  4. INSPECT HEADLIGHT UNIT


    1. Remove the headlight unit Click here.

    2. Disconnect the headlight swivel motor connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      for LH

      1 (LHB1) - 1 Always Below 1 Ω
      7 (LHM+) - 4 Always Below 1 Ω
      4 (LH E) - 3 Always Below 1 Ω
      for RH

      7 (RHM+) - 4 Always Below 1 Ω
      4 (RH E) - 3 Always Below 1 Ω

    REPLACE HEADLIGHT UNIT Click here

  5. CHECK HEADLIGHT SWIVEL MOTOR (LEVELING PORTION)


    1. Temporarily replace the headlight swivel motor (leveling portion) with a new or normally functioning one Click here.

    2. Check for DTCs Click here.
