DYNAMIC RADAR CRUISE CONTROL SYSTEM, Diagnostic DTC:U0235

DTC Code DTC Name
U0235 Lost Communication with Cruise Control Front Distance Range Sensor

DESCRIPTION

The distance control ECU sends general vehicle control information, such as vehicle speed, steering angle, etc., to the millimeter wave radar sensor. The millimeter wave radar sensor sends information about whether another vehicle is present in front of the vehicle, the distance between the vehicles, relative speed, etc. to the distance control ECU. The distance control ECU sends this information to the ECM and performs control of cruise control.

DTC Code DTC Detection Condition Trouble Area
U0235 The vehicle speed is 40 km/h (25 mph) or more with the cruise control main switch on (vehicle-to-vehicle distance control mode) and the data sent from the millimeter wave radar sensor to the distance control ECU is abnormal.
  • Millimeter wave radar sensor

  • Distance control ECU

  • Harness or connector

  • CAN communication system

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

Note

  • When the distance control ECU is replaced with a new one, initialization must be performed Click here.

  • When the millimeter wave radar sensor is replaced with a new one, adjustment of the radar sensor beam axis must be performed Click here.

  • As it is possible that this DTC was stored due to a bad connection of a connector, make sure to check that each connector is connected securely.

PROCEDURE

  1. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (MILLIMETER WAVE RADAR SENSOR - DISTANCE CONTROL ECU)

    1. A01ERE4E03

Disconnect the A44 millimeter wave radar sensor connector.

    2. Disconnect the E86 distance control ECU connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A44-3 (LRDD) - E86-22 (LRDD) Always Below 1 Ω
      A44-5 (IGB) - E86-13 (IGB)
      E86-12 (GND) - Body ground
E86-22 (LRDD) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      E86-13 (IGB) - Body ground
A44-2 (SGND) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      E86-10 (SGND) - Body ground

    NG
    OK
  2. CHECK DISTANCE CONTROL ECU

    1. A01EOQ0E01

Disconnect the A44 millimeter wave radar sensor connector.

    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage
Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      E86-13 (IGB) - E86-10 (SGND) Engine switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V
      E86-22 (LRDD) - E86-10 (SGND) 4.5 to 5.5 V

    NG
    OK
  3. REPLACE MILLIMETER WAVE RADAR SENSOR
