The AFS ECU receives a signal from each headlight leveling motor using LIN communication.

  1. CHECK FOR DTC


    1. Clear the DTCs Click here.

      OK
      DTC B2424 or B2425 is not output.

    CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BATTERY - AFS ECU) Click here

    USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK Click here

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BATTERY - AFS ECU)


    1. A01CGHRE03

      Disconnect the A23 AFS ECU connector.

    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A23-15 (IG) - Body ground Engine switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

    OK

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (AFS ECU - BODY GROUND)

    1. Disconnect the A23 AFS ECU connector.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      A23-22 (E1) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (AFS ECU - HEADLIGHT LEVELING MOTOR)


    1. A01CC89E01

      Disconnect the A23 AFS ECU connector.

    2. Disconnect the B2 or B11 headlight leveling motor connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      A23-3 (LL1+) - B2-1 (LHB1) Always Below 1 Ω
      A23-27 (LL1-) - B2-3 (LHE) Always Below 1 Ω

      A23-27 (LL1-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

  6. REPLACE HEADLIGHT LEVELING MOTOR (HEADLIGHT UNIT)


    1. Temporarily replace the headlight leveling motor (headlight unit) with a new or normally functioning one Click here for ALPHARD, Click here for VELLFIRE).

    2. Check for DTCs Click here.

      OK
      DTC B2424 or B2425 is not output.

    REPLACE AFS ECU Click here
