POWER MIRROR CONTROL SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
This system has the following functions: auto electric retract function, reverse shift-linked function, electrical remote control function, memory function.
FUNCTION OF MAIN COMPONENT
| Component | Function | |
|---|---|---|
| Outer rear view mirror assembly | Vertical motor | Receives a signal from the outer mirror control ECU assembly and adjusts the mirror surface position vertically. |
| Horizontal motor | Receives a signal from the outer mirror control ECU assembly and adjusts the mirror surface position horizontally. | |
| Retract motor | Receives a signal from the outer mirror control ECU assembly, and retracts and returns the outer rear view mirrors. | |
| Outer mirror retractable switch | Retracts and returns the outer rear view mirrors. Mirror retract and return signals are sent to the outer mirror control ECU assembly from the main body ECU. | |
| Mirror select switch | Consists of R and L switches. One must be chosen to operate the outer mirror switch assembly. | |
| Outer mirror control ECU assembly | Sends operation signals to each motor. | |
| Mirror adjust switch | Mirror R and L signals are sent to the outer mirror control ECU assembly from the mirror select switch. After selecting the R or L switch, the right, left, up and down control switches can be operated to change the angle of the mirror. |
|
| Mirror position sensor | Detects the mirror surface position. This data is detected by the outer mirror control ECU assembly. | |
| Seat memory switch | When the seat memory SET switch and a seat memory switch are pressed simultaneously, a signal is sent to the outer mirror control ECU assembly and the position control ECU and switch assembly, which records the mirror surface position. When a seat memory switch is pressed, a signal is sent to the outer mirror control ECU assembly and the position control ECU and switch assembly, which changes the mirror surface position to the recorded position. |
|
| Rear window defogger switch (Air conditioning control assembly)* | Sends a signal to the air conditioning amplifier assembly and the air conditioning amplifier assembly operates to warm the mirrors. | |

SYSTEM OPERATION
The remote control mirror has the following features.
| Function | Outline |
|---|---|
| Power retractable mirror function | Retracts and returns the outer rear view mirrors when the outer mirror retractable switch is pressed. |
| AUTO power retractable mirror function | Retracts and returns the outer rear view mirror if any of the following signals are detected while the engine switch is off and the power retract mirror switch is in the AUTO position.
|
| Reverse shift-linked function of mirrors | Directs the mirror surface downward to improve visibility when driving in reverse and all the conditions below are met:
|
| Electrical remote control mirror function | When the outer mirror switch assembly is operated, this function moves the mirror surface vertically or horizontally to enable the driver to attain an optimal mirror angle. Setting the mirror select switch to the R position operates the right mirror, and setting it to the L position operates the left mirror. |
| Memory and reproduction function | Stores the adjusted mirror position in the outer mirror control ECU assembly. |
| Mirror heater function* | Automatically turns on the mirror heaters when the rear window defogger switch is turned on. The rear window defogger and mirror heaters automatically turn off after 15 minutes.
Tip:
If both of the following conditions are met approximately 15 minutes after the rear window defogger is activated, the rear window defogger continues to operate for up to 45 minutes. If the following conditions are not met, the rear window defogger stops operating immediately.
