AIRBAG SYSTEM, Diagnostic DTC:B1657/95

DESCRIPTION

• for LHD:

  The driver side - side collision sensor circuit (to determine deployment of the front seat side airbag assembly LH and curtain shield airbag assembly LH) is composed of the center airbag sensor assembly, side airbag sensor LH (for front side), rear airbag sensor LH, side airbag sensor LH (for rear side) and rear floor airbag sensor.

  The side airbag sensor LH (for rear side) detects impacts to the vehicle and sends signals to the center airbag sensor assembly to determine if the airbag should be deployed.

  DTC B1657/95 is recorded when a malfunction is detected in the side airbag sensor LH (for rear side).

• for RHD:

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

PROCEDURE

1. CHECK DRIVER SIDE - SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR (FOR REAR SIDE)

   
   

   1. for LHD:

      
      

      1. Turn the engine switch off.

         

      2. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.

      3. Interchange the side airbag sensor RH (for rear side) with the side airbag sensor LH (for rear side) and connect the connectors.

      4. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal.

      5. Turn the engine switch on (IG), and wait for at least 60 seconds.

      6. Clear the DTCs stored in the memory Click here.

      7. Turn the engine switch off.

      8. Turn the engine switch on (IG), and wait for at least 60 seconds.

      9. Check for DTCs Click here.

         Result
         Result Proceed to DTC B1657/95 is output. A DTC B1672/96 is output. B DTCs B1657/95 and B1672/96 are not output. D

         Tech Tips

         Codes other than DTCs B1657/95 and B1672/96 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.

   2. for RHD:

      
      

      1. Turn the engine switch off.

         

      2. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.

      3. Interchange the side airbag sensor LH (for rear side) with the side airbag sensor RH (for rear side) and connect the connectors.

      4. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal.

      5. Turn the engine switch on (IG), and wait for at least 60 seconds.

      8. Turn the engine switch on (IG), and wait for at least 60 seconds.

      9. Check for DTCs Click here.
