Tip:

The fuel level warning light will come on when the fuel level is below 9.8 liters (10.4 Imp.qts, 8.6 US qts).

PROCEDURE


  1. Click here

    CHECK CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM


    1. Check if a CAN communication DTC is output (Click here).

      Result
      Result Proceed to
      CAN communication DTC is not output. A
      CAN communication DTC is output. B

  2. Click here

    PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING INTELLIGENT TESTER (FUEL METER OPERATION)


    1. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).

    3. Turn the tester on.

    4. Enter following menus: Body / Combination Meter / Active Test.

    5. Check the operation by referring to the table below.

      Fuel Meter Operation Fuel receiver gauge OFF, Empty, 1/2, Full Confirm that the vehicle is stopped with the engine idling

      Fuel receiver gauge indication is normal.

    READ VALUE USING INTELLIGENT TESTER (FUEL INPUT)


    1. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).

    3. Turn the tester on.

    4. Enter following menus: Body / Combination Meter / Data List.

    5. Check the values by referring to the table below.

      Fuel level signal displayed on the tester is almost the same as fuel receiver gauge indication.

    CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY - FUEL SENDER GAUGE ASSEMBLY)


    1. Disconnect the G19 and N19 connectors.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      G19-16 (L) - N19-1 (FS)*1 Always Below 1 Ω
      G19-16 (L) - N19-1 (E)*2 Always 10 kΩ or higher
      G19-16 (L) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      G19-15 (FE) - N19-2 (FE) Always Below 1 Ω
      G19-15 (FE) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      • *1: for LHD

      • *2: for RHD


  5. Click here

    INSPECT FUEL SENDER GAUGE ASSEMBLY


    1. A01CBXZE01

      Remove the fuel sender gauge assembly (Click herefor 2GR-FE,Click herefor 2AZ-FE).

    2. Check that the float moves smoothly between F and E.

    3. Check if the fuel sender gauge arm is deformed.

    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      1 - 2 Float level is F (upper) 13.5 to 16.5 Ω
      1 - 2 Float level is between F (upper) and E (lower) 13.5 to 414.5 Ω (Gradually changes)
      1 - 2 Float level is E (lower) 405.5 to 414.5 Ω

    CHECK FUEL SUCTION TUBE ASSEMBLY WITH PUMP AND GAUGE


    1. Visually check the fuel suction tube assembly with pump and gauge connector for deformation.

      OK
      There is no deformation.
