This DTC is output when the engine switch power source supply line is open or shorted.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

Note

If the certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) is replaced, register the key.

PROCEDURE


  1. CHECK DTC OUTPUT


    1. Clear the DTCs Click here.

    2. Recheck for DTCs Click here.

      OK
      B278A output does not recur.

    NG
    OK
  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (CERTIFICATION ECU - ENGINE SWITCH)


    1. Disconnect the certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) connector.

    2. A01CDSME02

      Disconnect the engine switch connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      G20-30 (VC5) - G21-14 (VC5) Always Below 1 Ω
      G20-40 (AGND) - G21-8 (AGND) Always Below 1 Ω
      G20-30 (VC5) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      G20-40 (AGND) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ENGINE SWITCH - POWER SOURCE AND BODY GROUND)


    1. Reconnect the certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) connector.

    2. A01CEOPE10

      Reconnect the engine switch connector.

    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      G20-30 (VC5) - Body ground Key not in cabin Below 1 V
      G20-30 (VC5) - Body ground Brake pedal depressed 4.6 to 5.4 V
    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      G20-40 (AGND) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
