SMART ENTRY AND START SYSTEM (for Start Function) Engine Switch Indicator Circuit

DESCRIPTION

Engine start conditions or system malfunctions can be checked by the status of the engine switch indicator light.

Brake pedal released Brake pedal depressed, shift lever in P or N
off off Turns on (Green) (when key and vehicle IDs match)
on (ACC, IG) Turns on (amber) Turns on (green)

Steering lock not unlocked Flashes (green) for 15 sec. Flashes (green) for 15 sec.
System malfunction Flashes (amber) for 15 sec. Flashes (amber) for 15 sec.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

PROCEDURE


  1. INSPECT ENGINE SWITCH


    1. Remove the engine switch (for 2GR-FE: Click here, for 2AZ-FE: Click here.

    2. Apply battery voltage between the terminals of the engine switch, and check the illumination condition of the switch.

      Note


      • If the positive (+) lead and the negative (-) lead are incorrectly connected, the engine switch indicator will not illuminate.

      • If the voltage is too low, the indicator will not illuminate.

      Battery positive (+) → Terminal 11 (SWIL)

      Battery negative (-) → Terminal 4 (COM) or 5 (GND)

      Illuminates (Switch Illumination)

      Battery positive (+) → Terminal 12 (INDS)

      Battery negative (-) → Terminal 4 (COM) or 5 (GND)

      Illuminates (Green Indicator Light)

      Battery positive (+) → Terminal 13 (INDW)

      Battery negative (-) → Terminal 4 (COM) or 5 (GND)

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ENGINE SWITCH - MAIN BODY ECU AND BODY GROUND)


    1. Disconnect the G48 connector from the main body ECU.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      G21-11 (SWIL) or G48-25 (SWIL) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      G21-12 (INDS) or G48-15 (INDS) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      G21-13 (INDW) or G48-14 (INDW) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
