The ECM determines the battery power according to the voltage of the BATT terminal while the engine is running (not cranking).

PROCEDURE


  1. Click here

    CHECK ANY OTHER DTCS OUTPUT (IN ADDITION TO DTC P1602)


    1. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).

    3. Turn the tester on.

    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / DTC.

    5. Read the DTC.

      Result
      Result Proceed to
      DTC P1602 is output A
      DTC P1602 and other DTCs are output B
      Tip:

      If any DTCs other than P1602 are output, troubleshoot those DTCs first.

    INSPECT CHARGING SYSTEM


    1. Inspect the charging system (Click here).


  3. Click here

    CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BATT POWER SOURCE)


    1. Disconnect the ECM connector.

    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A8-20 (BATT) - Body ground Always 11 to 14 V
    3. Reconnect the ECM connector.
