STEERING WHEEL INSPECTION


  1. INSPECT STEERING PAD SWITCH


    1. Disconnect the steering pad switch LH or steering pad switch assembly connector.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the values in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester connection Condition Specified condition
      z7-1 (HO) - Terminal B Always Below 2.5 Ω
      z7-2 (-DP) - z7-7 (+DP) No switch pushed 10 kΩ or higher
      z7-2 (-DP) - z7-7 (+DP) DISP switch pushed Below 2.5 Ω
      z7-10 (AU1) - z7-8 (EAU) No switch pushed 95 to 105 kΩ
      z7-10 (AU1) - z7-8 (EAU) Seek+ switch: pushed Below 2.5 Ω
      z7-10 (AU1) - z7-8 (EAU) Seek- switch: pushed 312 to 345 Ω
      z7-10 (AU1) - z7-8 (EAU) Volume+ switch: pushed 950 to 1050 Ω
      z7-10 (AU1) - z7-8 (EAU) Volume- switch: pushed 2954 to 3265 Ω
      z7-9 (AU2) - z7-8 (EAU) No switch pushed 95 to 105 kΩ
      z7-9 (AU2) - z7-8 (EAU) MODE switch: pushed Below 2.5 Ω
      z7-9 (AU2) - z7-8 (EAU)*1 Voice switch: pushed 2954 to 3265 Ω
      z7-9 (AU2) - z7-8 (EAU)*1 On Hook switch: pushed 312 to 345 Ω
      z7-9 (AU2) - z7-8 (EAU)*1 Off Hook switch: pushed 950 to 1050 Ω

      Tech Tips

      If the result is not as specified, replace the steering pad switch LH or steering pad switch assembly.

    3. Check the illumination


      1. Connect a (+) lead from the battery to terminal z7-5 (IL+2) and a (-) lead to terminal z7-8 (EAU).

      2. Check that the illumination of the switch comes on.

        OK
        The illumination comes on.

        If the result is not as specified, replace the steering pad switch LH or steering pad switch assembly.
